Ancient Echoes of Atonement

The air of North Africa gnawed at Adam’s spirit - teasingly familiar yet distant and unknown. He was haunted by what had happened and the memories that thought to consume him. But something here tugged at him, like chords flexing on skin. He just had to understand what it was.

He set his destination for the mystical village located in the woodlands nearby. Someone was expecting him and a meditative calm descended upon him as he pushed further east.

Going against a woman’s presence was the last thing on his mind, yet she was the one who had called him there. Hannah – the spiritual healer - lay out expectations for him. She invited him to confront his common demons, but she would only help if he promised to make his past less insistent.

In the presence of solitude and peace, she taught Adam a remnant from our origins. As if ancestral gods had granted nature with peculiar properties, he heard the trees stilled for a minute against the heart-breaking wind that ran through every valley. As if fate descending from heaven like a veil, a part of him fell deeply in love with this new place and its meridian.

Beginning his journey, Adam wandered into the field's embrace. The near timelessness wrapped around him and he felt elevated. He contemplated his lessons and the clues Hannah had provided him. He apotheosized the breathing air which soothed and pleased his being. Each stone, each tree, each flower mirrored parts of his own identity.

The familiarity returned once more, as if he and his environment were under the same spell acting on one another. Growing brave, he finally submitted to what had brought him there - he knew he must and face his weaknesses in order to transcend them and his body concurred to the serenity of his melancholic mind.

At the midpoint of his sojourn, Hannah introduces him to some of wise individuals resident in the village. He acquires from each of the elders valuable conversations and experiences. These meetings trigger the awakening of dormant secrets and as like pieces of a great mysterious puzzle, Adam starts reconstructing his past, uncovering something that had long been hidden.

Leaning his face against the wind, he discovers an eternity of relics age – an eternal well of knowledge from a time ‘unknown’. With each discovery, he was one step closer towards his crisis.

His previous experiences collided with dusk in the desert, gathering one final achievement - a broken area in his past that he had been blind to until this very moment. He whispered a silent prayer into the universe but upon reflecting, at his greatest moment of despair, he found a little spark of courage that confirmed that this was the right place and time to atone.

In the climax of his journey, a light as bright as one thousand dawns shone on Adam's goals. He renewed himself and disregarded the faults of his tribulations. Calmness ran through his being and meditating against the mesmerizing skyline, his original objectives were within reach now.

When the sun rose in the horizon, Adam soon returned to the village to thank Hannah for her teachings. The sweet almost ethereal sound of children’s laughter filled his ears and with that, the stones of his feet were one with the desert once more. He could now face whatever may come in the future, carrying with him his new found wisdom from the journey.
