The Prophecy of the American Buffalos
·
Published 3/27/2023With only a fragment of the ancient Prophecy of the American Buffalos to guide him, Trey, an intrepid epic future-man, is hurled back to the fateful day of November 22, 1963, as he embarks on a wild, supernatural journey to save the destiny of humanity by summoning the American Buffalos of ages past.
"I don't understand," said the young man with a blonde ponytail, who was wearing a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. "You just told me that you're from a future one hundred years away, and you need my help to save the Buffalo."
"That's right. You were the only one to read our prophecy correctly. I'm sure of it," answered the old woman with grey hair, who was wearing a long dress and a red cloak.
The two of them were standing in front of each other in the middle of a desert. The sky was blue and cloudless, but there was no wind at all, which made it very hot.
"Yes," continued the old lady. "You were able to find some fragments of our sacred book buried in half-destroyed ruins, and then you memorized them, even though you didn't understand their meaning."
"But I still don't understand!" protested the young man with a frustrated expression on his face. "What is this prophecy? What does it say?"
"You are not alone," replied the old lady calmly. "The others who have been sent here have also had trouble understanding it." She took out a piece of paper from her sleeve and began reading from it:
"In sixty days, the stars shall be aligned, and then he will come; banishing fear from men's hearts; bringing salvation to your people; raising up the fallen; freeing those imprisoned; delivering those enslaved; healing those sick; lifting up those burdened; lifting hope into despairing souls; restoring peace to war weary lands; rescuing those lost in darkness; ending the violence that plagues you; destroying your enemies where they stand; crushing those who would harm you; protecting those who flee or hide..."
The old lady looked up from her paper, smiled at the young man, and continued:
"He will heal your womanhood while assuring your maleness. He will protect your children while promising them hope. He will restore your tribe while feeding your nation. He will bring life to your culture while teaching you unity. He will bring honor to your nation while promising peace to humanity."
