Lucy had always been fascinated by old things. When she stumbled upon an antique store in a small, forgotten town, she couldn't resist going in. Among the dusty relics, she found an ornate, full-length mirror with a beautifully carved wooden frame. The shopkeeper, an elderly man with piercing eyes, sold it to her for a surprisingly low price, but not before warning her, "Be careful what you reflect."

Lucy brushed off the odd comment and brought the mirror home, placing it in her bedroom. That night, as she got ready for bed, she noticed something strange. Her reflection seemed... delayed. When she raised her hand, the image in the mirror followed a split second later.

Dismissing it as tiredness, she went to sleep. But the following nights, the odd behavior continued. The delay grew longer, and sometimes, her reflection seemed to move on its own, even when she was perfectly still.

One evening, as she was brushing her hair, she saw a shadowy figure standing behind her in the mirror. She spun around but her room was empty. Heart pounding, she looked back at the mirror and the shadow was gone.

Over the next few days, the shadow appeared more frequently. It started to take shape and look more and more like a dark twisted version of herself. Lucy was terrified but felt drawn to the mirror unable to look away.

One night, the shadow didn't disappear. It stepped out of the mirror becoming solid and real. Lucy tried to scream but no sound came out. The shadow lunged at her and everything went black.

When Lucy woke up again she wasn't in her room anymore; instead trapped inside of a glass prism that floated above where

her body would have been resting on top of an alter covered in ancient Sumerian symbols inscribed into dried goat's blood.

She could barely make out through blurred vision

the figure of a tall, cloaked woman standing in front of the alter, reciting an incantation.

"Lucem liberare meos tenebris." The woman commanded forcefully.

As the words left her mouth Lucy's spirit was forcefully pulled from it's glassy prison, transport into the body of the woman who had chanted her back to existence.

The surprisingly young face looked down at Lucy with a wicked smile as she began reciting once again,

"Spiritum in tenebris tenebrosi exsurgere,"

Lucy was only able to briefly take in her surroundings before she felt another forceful tug this time towards the mirror where she had been previously trapped.

And just like that she had returned. Back inside that accursed mirror. Again looking out into her room at someone else looking back at her.

And in the antique store, the elderly shopkeeper smiled knowing the mirror would soon find another buyer.

End
