Mecha Magic at the Moon
·
Published 3/11/2023In a post-apocalyptic Bronze Age on the moon, a courageous and ingenious group of teenagers, led by their beloved professor of Fanfiction, rely on knowledge from their culture and an unexpected reference to Harry Potter to confront their robotic enemies, with the fate of their world hanging in the balance.
The ancient mechanical creature stood before them, a towering metal monstrosity.
“What is that thing?” asked the youngest child, eyes wide with fear.
“No idea,” replied the oldest, shaking his head slowly “but we’re going to find out.”
The eldest boy turned to face the robot, took a deep breath, and began to charge it. His friends followed close behind him, armor clanking against each other as they did so. The device was now only twenty feet away and closing fast. They were almost within killing range of its heat rays and bounding drills.
A few seconds later, they were in range. The first boy to reach the behemoth leapt into the air and kicked one of the large drill bits on its shoulder while firing his spear at its backside. The spear sailed through the air and collided with the metal monster, causing a small dent in its surface but not much else. The boy quickly pulled himself onto the tip of the drill bit and started running along it towards the head of the machine when his feet slipped off of it and he fell to the ground. He quickly jumped up and ran at it again, this time aiming for one of its photoreceptors. As he was about to make contact with it, another child hit him from behind and sent him flying into a pit where he met with a painful end by one of the tumbling boulders that had been dropped from above by another enemy soldier to their west. The remaining children that had reached their target once more charged at it while firing their crossbows into it. Their attacks caused barely any damage to what they thought was just another war machine like theirs but as they approached closer they could see that this was no ordinary mecha-creature; it was different in some way that they couldn’t quite put their finger on until...

Harry Potter! That’s what it reminded them of! How could that be? They were fighting in a Bronze Age society on the moon! This couldn’t be possible! Unless...
Harry Potter was real? No! That wasn’t possible either! But wait a minute; one of their own professors who also happened to be an experienced writer of fiction had said something about this very idea being impossible some time ago when pondering about whether or not writing about Harry Potter was inappropriate for children because of how rare such tales were nowadays. Could this mean that Harry Potter really WAS real? No! It couldn’t possibly be true! But...it would make sense if he was real wouldn’t it? After all, what if there really was a wizarding war in our past so long ago where Harry Potter fought Voldemort alongside Merlin and King Arthur? It would explain how these devices ended up here on Earth in our past as well as why they look like those machines from Harry Potter books and films! But how could that be? How can we know for sure? Perhaps there is someone who can tell us...

The children stared at their professor in amazement as he told them everything that he knew about Harry Potter; how he was born to Lily and James Potter on July 31st 1983 (which corresponded with their world’s July 27th), how he survived an attack by Lord Voldemort as a baby thanks to his mother sacrificing herself for him using her last dying breath to protect him with her love (a move reminiscent of their culture’s myths which normally involved parents protecting their young from danger by sacrificing themselves), how he grew up in London before attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he quickly befriended Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger (who were slightly older than him when they started school) after showing how skilled he was at magic despite being merely eleven years old (which is not uncommon in their culture where people are considered adults when they are thirteen years old), how he defeated several dark wizards during his time at Hogwarts (including You-Know-Who) helped by his friends (who managed to cause even more chaos than him) after graduating from school (where he received many honors due to his achievements), how he married Ginevra Molly Weasley after dating for eight years (which also happens often in their culture where people get married whenever they feel ready to start a family), how he had three kids named James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna (who all looked exactly like him) before being murdered by You-Know-Who fifteen years later (with his main group supporting him throughout), how most people believed that You-Know-Who killed Harry too until five years later when it was revealed that Harry managed to cheat death thanks to Dumbledore giving him an advanced state known as “The Deathly Hallows” which included a cloak capable of making others invisible to everyone around them (just like how their cloaks worked), two magical items called “The Elder Wand” which allowed whoever owned it ultimate control over all other wands while making others obey its owner's commands while giving them access to more powerful spells/attacks/etc.(much like how certain weapons gave them similar powers), an invisibility potion called “The Resurrection Stone” which allowed whoever drank from it to talk with those who have passed onto whatever lies beyond life itself (similar to talking stones used by shamans in their religion), and finally an invisibility watch called “The Invisibility Cloak” which allowed whoever wore it unclothed or carrying nothing underneath or above it visible without having anything covering them up whatsoever (similar to cloaks worn by priests during holy rituals). With these items Harry managed to kill You-Know-Who during an epic battle between good versus evil at age seventeen using an incredibly powerful attack known as “The Killing Curse” which allowed whoever used it kill off anyone instantly regardless of what protection they had against magic while also crippling them severely via necrotic decay (which still exists today even though anyone who uses magic is now required by law to wear protective shrouds under penalty of death). Unfortunately for mankind, Harry hadn't lived long enough after killing You-Know-Who because shortly afterwards he suffered severe necrotic decay himself while fighting off an army lead by Draco Malfoy who wanted revenge against Harry for defeating his father Lucius Malfoy during Voldemort's reign when Lucius himself tried illegally obtaining The Elder Wand after killing Albus Dumbledore due to believing that whoever killed You-Know-Who would automatically become the next owner of The Elder Wand (which turned out not to be true). But thankfully Draco didn't succeed thanks to help from Ron Weasley's son Eddie who sacrificed himself for Draco since Eddie didn't want Draco getting hurt since Draco only joined Malfoy's army because Draco's mother Narcissa Malfoy forced him too since she was scared for her son's life after helping orchestrate Voldemort's rebirth after being tortured by various government officials for helping revive dark wizards during her first marriage but then being forgiven because she helped destroy You-Know-Who after marrying Ronald Weasley after Voldemort's defeat due her being disgusted at her previous husband Lucius Malfoy whom she divorced after finding out that he supported Voldemort's cause including murdering Muggles simply because they weren't wizards/witches while doing so out in public within both Britain and Japan back then even though magically revealing oneself like this would make you highly vulnerable among other things meaning you'd normally do such things privately instead which is why Lucius probably did so out in public anyway just because even thinking about doing something like this makes most wizards/witches sick just thinking about doing things like this alone).
