Chasing Stardust: A Week in Vancouver

"Thank you so much," Jihyo said with a warm smile as she signed a poster for Talha. "I really appreciate it."

"It's nothing, really. I just...I had to do it," Talha replied while giving her a bow. The two of them were standing in the lobby of the convention center where all this past week, Jihyo had held a fan meet-and-greet session for hundreds of fans from all over Canada. Among them was this man who had stood out to her more than most others and had managed to gather the courage to ask for something more.

"So...can I ask you something?" Talha asked, breaking Jihyo out of her thoughts. "I hope it's not too personal or anything but...what made you get into music and entertainment? You know, your mom didn't want you to do it and--"

Jihyo smiled at him again. She had been asked that question many times by many people during the week she spent here in Vancouver with the rest of TWICE. "My mother did not want me to be an idol, but my father did. He told me I would be wasting my talent if I didn't try to pursue music and entertainment, and so I went for it despite how much my mother hated the idea of me being on stage."

Talha nodded his head slowly as he digested her words. To him, they sounded like they came from a very personal place. "And now? What does she think about you being here right now? I mean...you guys are really famous now, aren't you? I don't think there is anyone here who doesn't know TWICE by now."

She smiled again and nodded her head, feeling somewhat nostalgic about those memories before she finally answered his question, "My mother is still not happy with what I do, but she is proud of me now. At least that's what she tells me whenever we have time together these days because of our busy schedules with our group and our endorsement contracts and such. But anyway...yeah, we are pretty famous these days, but I don't pay much attention to that because it doesn't change how big of a part you've played in all this success we have today! So thank you again for all the support you've given us all these years."

Talha's cheeks flushed pink at Jihyo's words as he looked down at his feet bashfully. He could feel himself getting nervous again, realizing that this moment was probably the last one he'd share with Jihyo tonight before everyone else left the building.

"Can I ask another question?" Talha's voice was unsure, but Jihyo understood his intentions without any doubt.

"Yes," She said softly while looking straight into his eyes. "Yes," She repeated more confidently this time around while smiling brightly at him, "I am willing to see where our relationship takes us no matter how difficult or impossible things might seem right now. Would you be willing to see where our relationship takes us too?"

Talha's heart fluttered with hope as he absorbed Jihyo's words. The air around them felt charged with an electric energy, as if the universe itself was holding its breath, waiting for his response.
