The distant future saw Brazil brought to the brink of warfare. The citizens’ discontentment was palpable after two civil wars, an epidemic of poverty, and an increasingly oppressive government, it seemed only a matter of time before something had to give. After decades of terror, the citizens still hoped for a better future. But it was not going to come easy.

The protagonist of the story was a likeable character, a brave soul in the midst of the chaos. The protagonist was a veteran of the wars, a survivor of the epidemic of poverty, and a passionate defender of his people’s freedom. He recognized the times of struggle and he had been preparing for the inevitable showdown between his people and the government.

As a veteran of the wars, the protagonist already had an understanding of the theme of violence and its destructive outcome. But now he needed to understand something deeper as a military man, he realized that he must also address the social and ethical issues at play and find a peaceful solution to the problem.

The leisurely paced narrative slowly unraveled these themes, set against a backdrop described in a lyrical style similar to Jean Genet's. He explored the issues of his people's struggle for freedom, justice and dignity, of the government’s exploitation of the citizens and its corrupt officials.

The midpoint was key here, our protagonist discovered that the situation and struggles of his people had reached a critical moment. He needed to find an answer and a way forward. As he discovered the levels of government’s oppression he vowed to find a solution and rally his people to resist.

The dramatic climax came when the protagonist's peaceful reckonings eventually took form. Gathering all his courage, he and his people both took to the streets to peacefully protest the injustices perpetrated by the government. Through their actions, they showed the world they will not be silenced and they demand the freedom they deserve.

The story ended with all the major conflicts resolved. The government eventually bowed to the citizens’ pressure and the people of Brazil achieved the freedoms many of them had spent their entire lives dreaming of. The protagonist and his people's sense of accomplishment was immense and warranted its very own victory dance.

It was a hard-fought victory, but it brought about long overdue change for Brazil and hope for all its citizens. Though the road ahead might have its bumps, the people of Brazil could look ahead with hope and, through a hard-earned victory, they had shown they would not be silenced.
