Naruto sat on the branch of a large tree. He had been sent by the Sandaime Hokage to watch over two young boys who lived deep in the woods. The boys' names were Alden and Ford.

The Sandaime Hokage was worried about someone or some group that might be after them. He gave Naruto no further information.

Naruto was bored. It was tedious watching these children. They went to school and did chores at home. They hardly ever played with other kids their age, even though there were lots of kids in the village.

Naruto wondered if he was just wasting his time. But he knew the Sandaime wouldn't have sent him here if he didn't think it was important. He watched and waited for something interesting to happen.

One day, Naruto saw one of the boys go into the woods carrying a large bag that seemed heavy for a boy his size. He carried it like someone who has done this many times before and knew what he was doing.

Naruto jumped down from the tree and followed him into the woods, keeping enough distance so as not to be noticed.

He saw the boy approach a small clearing where two men were waiting for him at a wooden table. One of them gave him money while the other handed him a small box before they walked away without saying a word, back into the woods. The boy opened the box and took out a piece of paper with writing on it before putting that back in his bag and walking back home in silence, just like he came out of the woods earlier that afternoon.

Naruto watched all this from behind a bush nearby, puzzled as to what could have made this young boy do this all by himself every week when nobody else seemed to know about it except for those two men from earlier in the day, who were obviously criminals; otherwise, they wouldn't have been meeting in secret in this place deep in the woods with another boy who looked like he wasn't even ten years old yet!

As soon as Alden got back home, Naruto ran quickly over to where Alden's older brother Ford would be playing outside with friends at this time of day in late afternoon. When he got there, Ford was sitting down on a bench next to his friends looking very pale and tired while trying to hide how upset he really felt inside while laughing without smiling along with everyone else around him as if nothing could ever be wrong in his world at all right now...even though something bad must have happened because Alden never came back home with his usual smile on his face after going out once every week since they moved here almost two months ago!
