Military Might Meets Holiday Delight: Sean's Christmas Crusade
·
Published 1/27/2023Retired military veteran and LGBTQIA rights activist Sean Hudson must employ wits, knowledge and courage to battle a mysterious villain and save Christmas from being destroyed in a politically-charged, high-stakes mission set in modern-day Asia.
Sean Hudson looked around the empty bar, his eyes scanning the dimly lit room for the man he was supposed to meet. He took a deep breath, and tried to relax. Sitting at the bar, he lightly rubbed his hand over his left arm.
From his wrist to his elbow, there was a large scar. The skin was puckered and brown; it reminded Sean of the surface of the moon. He could remember the moment of the explosion, and how his skin had practically melted off his body, along with most of the flesh on his left arm. He shuddered as he felt the phantom pain. He closed his eyes, and tried to shake the memory out of his head.
A few minutes later, Sean felt a tap on his shoulder. He turned towards the touch, and found himself face-to-face with a tall, thin man with glasses. His hair was greasy and unkempt, and his skin was pallid, almost white. He was dressed in a suit that was obviously too big for him.
The man put his hand out to shake Sean's, and Sean shook it. "Sean Hudson?" asked the man. Sean nodded. "I'm Chuck," continued the man. Sean smiled, and the two men sat down at the bar. "I've got the envelope right here," Chuck said, pulling a duffel bag up onto the bar. He opened it up, and pulled out an envelope.
"Right here," Chuck said again, sliding the envelope across the bar towards Sean. Sean picked it up, and tucked it into his inside jacket pocket. He took a deep breath.
"I don't know how much you know about what's going on," Sean said, "but I've gotta tell you, this is some scary shit." Chuck nodded. "I've got a friend on the inside. She's been feeding me information. It's not good," Sean continued, "and it's not just the Nazis across the pond who are behind it. It's something even bigger than that. They want to use this new Nazi technology to attack Americans. They want to wipe out anyone who opposes them. They want to completely destroy the United States!"
Chuck nodded soberly. "My friend told me about the weapon," he said. "It's based on some kind of exotic energy source. She says they're using it to power this 'anti-matter' cannon, and they're gonna use it to kill everyone who stands in their way." Sean looked at Chuck, and Chuck looked back. "What do you need from us?" Chuck asked. "What can we do?"
Sean reached into his jacket, and pulled out the envelope. "There's a scientist who works for the Germans. She's a scientist, but she's one of us. She's a patriot. She knows she can't stop the Germans from building this weapon. But she does have the blueprints. She's willing to sell them to us. She's gonna contact me when the time is right, and tell me where the plans are. We have to be ready to move fast."
Sean handed the envelope to Chuck, who took it and slid it into his own jacket pocket. "Your friend is gonna be in danger, handing these plans over to us," Chuck said. "We've gotta make sure she's safe." Sean nodded. "She's tough," he replied. "She's tough enough to do it." Chuck smiled. "We're ready," he said. "We'll be ready to move when the time is right."
Sean smiled, and stood up. "Be safe out there," he said. "And Merry Christmas!" Chuck nodded, and Sean walked away.
