Outback Conspiracy: Sebastian and Emily's Wild Ride
·
Published 3/11/2023Two witty, intrepid Aussie teens, Sebastian and Emily, risk their own lives as they unravel an sinister ancient plot that threatens to destroy their small outback town and all its inhabitants.
“You know I hate you, right?”
“What are you talking about, Em? You love me. I’m your best friend.”
“Yes, and that’s why I hate you. Now can we please get back to studying? I have a test on Monday.”
I sighed and closed my eyes, “That was an awesome movie though. The plot twist at the end was so unexpected!”
Emily flipped her hair out of her face as she huffed and puffed, “Who would have thought that an ex-best friend was actually the villain all along? Talk about basic!”
I rolled my eyes, “Well yeah, but still… I mean it was so funny when they were making fun of him and he got all mad at them and then this new kid showed up and the whole thing with his dad dying but not dying and being a doctor but not being a doctor or whatever… It was hilarious!”
Emily stared at me for a moment before shoving her notebook onto my lap, “Shut up and study! We don’t have long before mum gets home.”
I grumbled something that sounded vaguely like an agreement before flipping through the pages of Emily’s notebook. She had already written the definitions for the words we had talked about into the margin next to each word. She was such a nerd sometimes.
“So is it true that you have to pretty much be perfect in order to be accepted into Oxford? That doesn’t really make sense to me… Why would they let someone into Oxford who isn’t perfect? That just doesn’t make sense to me. What do they think they’re going to do there if they aren’t perfect? Go be bad at Oxford? What kind of logic is that?! How are they ever supposed to learn anything if they go to Oxford and don’t learn how to be perfect? Maybe Oxford is even more flawed than I thought… I mean what kind of school accepts people who aren't even good enough to be accepted into another school?! This just makes no sense to me whatsoever. Honestly, I don't know why people keep putting so much faith in this school system. These people are only getting older! They should be learning from their mistakes instead of being rewarded for doing nothing but failing all their lives! They should be told by their parents that they are bad at things instead of being told by some biased teacher who obviously has some sort of agenda against them! They should have been told by some real life person with real experience in this world instead of some person who has never even left the country! They should have been told by somebody who knows how hard it is to live in this world where we are constantly being forced to grow up too fast! And now look at them! They want everybody else's kids to go through what they went through so that maybe those kids will realize how hard their lives were and maybe feel bad for them because now everyone thinks those people are failures because they couldn't live up to expectations set by other people who didn't even see how hard it was for them! What kind of messed up society do we live in where a person can get treated like trash for years and then turn around and treat other people like trash because those people made them feel like trash in the first place!?"
