Athena Mars at the Pantheon: A Classic Tale of Grit and Glow on the Red Planet

“Ten seconds,” the referee shouted.

Athena Mars took a deep breath and focused on her opponent. The crowd was silent, but she could feel their eyes all on her. And as the seconds dwindled down, so did her resolve.

She knew it was a risk, fighting in this match against an opponent she didn’t know. But she needed the money, and if you don’t take chances to get ahead, then you’ll never get anywhere. She had broken down that door and stood up to her boss when she needed more money, and now the championship belt was within her grasp. All she needed to do was beat some trash who thought they could be champion.

The ref counted down toward zero and Athena sprang into action just as the bell rang. She barreled forward, slamming her shoulder into her opponent, hoping to knock them off balance so she could take the advantage early. Her opponent fell back onto the mat with a thud and Athena followed suit, dropping down on top of them with a hard elbow drop across their face.

They were still for a moment, but Athena wasn’t about to waste any time. She rolled off her opponent and scrambled to her feet just in time to see them getting up off the mat too. They threw themselves at Athena again and she dodged out of the way. They tried another tackle and Athena avoided that one too before delivering another hard elbow drop across their chest.

The other wrestler fell back down again and Athena repeated the process with another elbow drop onto the mat while they were prone on the ground. The ref had already been counting both times Athena pulled those moves, which meant she wasn’t out of this yet even though her opponent seemed like they were running out of steam fast.

Athena rolled back onto her feet again as her opponent got up once more, both fighters locking eyes with each other for a moment before charging forward once more to meet each other in the middle of the ring for a head-on collision of bodies repeatedly hitting one another until one of them finally fell over onto their back with no more energy left to give.

And at that moment it looked like that person was going to be Athena herself because her body was running out of steam fast as well, but she refused to lose here today where so much was at stake for her career and life moving forward after winning this fight. She kicked forward with all she had left in her body and felt the satisfying crunch of bones breaking beneath her foot when it connected with those of her opponent’s legs.

Her opponent staggered backward dazed by what had just happened and Athena took advantage of that momentary lapse in concentration by grabbing them by their head before throwing them right through the ropes over into the audience below where they landed hard on their back against concrete flooring before rolling over onto their side breathing hard just like Athena herself was doing from exhaustion now that this match had gone all out from beginning to end without either fighter being able to claim victory until that final kick sent their competitor crashing into an audience full of strangers watching this event unfold live for all intents and purposes as reality TV for everyone there except for Athens herself who knew that victory or defeat here would forever alter not only the direction of what came next for herself but also for everyone who had come here tonight expecting to see reality TV instead having ended up witnessing something far more real than anything they might have expected today here at Pantheon Coliseum in all its glory!
