Published 7/11/2023In a chilling tale of power and darkness, a ruthlessly cunning and reviled Slytherin, Harry Potter, discovers his latent dark magical abilities and succumbs to their seductive embrace, descending farther into evil with each desperate and calculated move he makes, while jeopardizing everything he holds dear and ultimately unraveling the true meaning of justice. Will he be consumed by the dark forces that lurk within or find redemption in the depths of his own soul?

“Harry!” I shouted, “I said, wait!”
He didn’t turn around. His march up the hill was determined. Steady. As if he knew what he was doing.
I shoved my hands in my pockets, adjusting the weight of the small pistol inside them. Harry had been acting strangely as of late and I needed to find out why. I had followed him here to this hillside where he kept meeting with a stranger. Sometimes it would be just the two of them talking and other times, another man would join them. They wore long cloaks that hid their faces and their identities from me. They were Dark Wizards for sure and I intended to find out who they were and why Harry was meeting with them. With the gun in my pocket I wouldn’t hesitate to take one or two of them down if I had to.
The grass crunched under my feet as I hiked up the hill towards Harry and his mysterious companions. The crest of the hill came into view first, then Harry himself as he reached the top of the small rise. The cloaked figures stepped aside and Harry stopped before them all at once. There was a moment of silence so intense it seemed to last an eternity, until Harry turned to face his new master; Voldemort himself. He bowed low before him in supplication and Voldemort smiled at him darkly in return.
My stomach dropped into my shoes as I watched that evil smile spread across Voldemort’s pale face. He leaned forward and raised his right hand high over Harry’s head, a green light racing up his arm and disappearing into his palm before being absorbed by Harry’s skin like a sponge absorbing water from the ground beneath it. My eyes widened as the light disappeared from Voldemort’s hand and Harry stood up straight again, his head bowed in reverence again before rising to look Voldemort directly in the eye now that he was fully empowered by him. I could feel my heart beating rapidly as that feeling rose within me again, the same one that had led me here today in search of answers-the same one that had kept me alive through countless battles during our war against Voldemort-the same one that now told me this was not a good thing for anyone involved...especially not for Harry...and certainly not for me…I pulled my wand out quickly, pointing it at Voldemort with shaking hands and calling out his name in warning...
“Voldemort!” I shouted, my voice quivering with a mix of fear and determination. The sound echoed through the stillness of the hillside, reverberating off the surrounding trees. The Dark Lord’s icy gaze shot towards me, piercing through the uncertainty in my eyes.
Harry turned to face me, his expression a mix of surprise and panic. “What are you doing here, Ron?” he asked, his voice laced with a hint of desperation.
I ignored his question, my attention solely on Voldemort. My wand remained steady, though my hands trembled. The Dark Lord’s smile twisted into a sneer as he assessed the situation before him. There was a flicker of irritation in his crimson eyes, a signal that my unexpected arrival had disrupted his plans.
“You shouldn’t have come, Ron,” Harry said, his voice strained. “I had to do this...for all of us.”
“For all of us?” I scoffed, a surge of anger mingling with my words. “This isn’t for us, Harry. You’ve made a deal with the devil. Do you really think he’ll keep his end of the bargain?”
Voldemort chuckled darkly, the sound sending shivers down my spine. “Your friend possesses a commendable ambition, Mr. Weasley,” he said, his voice dripping with condescension. “He understands the value of true power.”
“True power?” My voice trembled with a mix of fear and disbelief. “You’ve deluded yourself, Harry. This...this isn’t the way. We fought against him, against his tyranny. We sacrificed so much to bring him down, and now you’re willingly handing yourself over to him?”
Harry's gaze faltered for a moment, a flicker of doubt crossing his face. But it was quickly replaced by a steely determination. “I know what I’m doing, Ron. Voldemort is offering us a chance...a chance to end this once and for all. It’s the only way.”
I shook my head, my heart aching with a profound sense of betrayal. “There has to be another way, Harry. This isn’t the answer. We can’t trust him.”
Voldemort’s amusement morphed into a dangerous glint. “Your loyalty to your friend is admirable, Mr. Weasley. But make no mistake, you are interfering in matters that do not concern you. Leave now, or suffer the consequences."
My grip on my wand tightened, my resolve hardening. I couldn't abandon Harry, not now. Not when he was teetering on the edge of darkness. “I won’t let you take him, Voldemort. Not without a fight.”
With those words, the tension in the air thickened, a palpable wall of energy building between us. Harry's eyes widened, his voice pleading. “Ron, please! You don’t understand. I'm doing this for all of us. For a better future.”
The memory of all those we lost in our battle against Voldemort flashed before my eyes – Fred, Lupin, Tonks, and so many others. Their sacrifices couldn't be in vain. I took a step forward, my wand steady but my voice laced with emotion. “Harry, listen to me. We’ve faced unimaginable darkness before, and we’ve overcome it together. Don’t let this be the end of everything we fought for.”
Voldemort's patience waned, his voice dripping with venom. "Very well, Ronald Weasley. If you choose to stand in my way, you will share the fate of your friend."
A flash of green light shot from Voldemort's wand, hurtling towards me. My reflexes kicked in, and I raised my wand, deflecting the curse with a burst of protective magic. The air crackled as my spell collided with his, a burst of raw power that temporarily distanced us.
Harry's face contorted with anguish. "Ron, please! You don't understand!"
But I couldn't allow myself to be swayed by his words. I couldn't let Harry be consumed by the darkness he sought to control. With every fiber of my being, I focused on him, reminding myself of the friendship we had forged through years of adventure and hardship.
Summoning all the strength within me, I charged forward, my wand blazing with determination. The battle between light and darkness had begun, and I would fight until my last breath to save my friend from the clutches of evil.
