The Perilous Path of Error

In the beginning, there was nothing.

All that existed was the Great Void. Within the void there was a great nothingness. However, this nothingness had a mind of its own. It was aware of itself and all that it encompassed- empty space, dark matter, and even time itself. The Nothingness had a will to be more than what it was. This is why it created light. It thought that just maybe if it could create light, then it could bring something else into existence- life!

The light illuminated the Void, and it saw itself in all of its glory! However, since The Light only covered the area where The Void lived, so The Void saw only a tiny piece of itself in The Light. It wanted to see more of itself! So, with its heavenly powers, The Void grabbed hold of a little piece of itself and pulled it away from the rest. It pulled out an infinitesimally small piece of itself and molded it into a ball- which we now call Earth! Once Earth formed and settled into its orbit around the Sun, The Void poked a hole through its center to let some light shine through- thus creating day and night!

Once Earth was created, The Void found that it enjoyed being able to move freely throughout his newfound creation. He would roam around on Earth as he saw fit. He watched as every living thing on Earth evolved over millennia; fish turned into birds turned into mammals turned into primates turned into humans- each stage better suited for survival than the last! But most importantly, these creations were fun for The Void to watch! He loved them for their unique personalities and how they defied odds by surviving in such an inhospitable environment as Earth's!

It was during one of these jaunts on Earth where The Void first noticed humans. They looked like naked apes with no hair at first glance, but they were interesting creatures nonetheless. They were also quite different from other animals he had seen before on Earth. They had many weird habits that seemed odd at first blush; sleeping in coffins (or "beds"), walking upright with two feet instead of four feet like a normal animal walks on, eating strange foods like plants ("vegetables") or dead animals ("meat"). Then they started to communicate with each other using things called "words" and "phrases." They even wrote down their thoughts on pieces of paper called "books." But most curious of all was how these humans could talk to him without moving their mouths or making any sound whatsoever!

He soon realized that these humans could think directly into his mind through a process called "telepathy." At first he thought that this meant that these humans had some sort of special power or gift from him to communicate with him directly. Then he noticed that all humans could do this at any time from birth. How odd! And so he decided to stay close to them and listen in whenever possible so he could learn more about them and how they communicated with each other on Earth! And thus began his long journey watching over humanity for countless ages...
