Breaking the Tides of Destiny

Set in 4th century BCE Mediterranean, Isabella is a young, honest Greek woman living in ancient Sparta and struggling against the constraints imposed on her by her society and her traditionalist father. On her way to a secret meeting where she hopes to find a resolution to an ongoing family dispute, Isabella's journey takes an unexpected turn when she finds herself running amidst a costumed procession celebrating a religious, fertility ritual. Having caught a glimpse of a handsome young man through a gap in the revelry, she quickly becomes aware of the attention she has gained and desperately searches for a way to escape her pursuers. Taking her chances, Isabella makes a daring attempt to escape the clutches of her followers and find safety during the procession, her glossy black hair billowing in the ait.

Unbeknown to Isabella, her daring escape plan miraculously works and brings her companionship in the form of the handsome young man, who stands quietly in his Trojan regalia as if awaiting her. Wide-eyed at her stroke of luck, Isabella quickly finds out that Evander had been there to witness the ritual in dedication to his missing brother who had escaped during a slave raid some years back. Pleased to have the divine favour at a time when she needed it the most, Isabella hastily accepts a deal that the young man offers her. Agreeing to Evander's providence and curious to find out more about the mystery surrounding his brother, Isabella embarks on a unique journey with Evander into the heart of the Mediterranean.

Eventually arriving at a mountain pass, Isabella finds that the search for Evander's brother is only the beginning of their journey. As the wheels of fate slowly starts to turn and her own convictions slowly start to show through, Isabella finds herself pitted with tough decisions and struggles with the ethical and social problems that she is confronted with. Although she gradually realises Evander's increasing presence in her journey, Isabella stubbornly fights against her increasingly strong feelings and avoids the temptation to fall in love, knowing that it would interfere with her search for her family's justice.

But fate has other plans, and eventually, with Evander's help, Isabella's convictions are vindicated, as her family's dispute is resolved. In a tragic and steamy climax, prompted by the understanding that they must soon part ways, Isabella and Evander come to terms with their individual realities and let the moment become the most intimate of their relationship. In a bittersweet moment, their realizations are sealed with a kiss, and a promise that the sparks between them will live for eternity-despite knowing the various forces that will ensure that their star-crossed relationship ends as quickly as it began.
