Ada's Courageous Redemption

I saw a flash of light from the corner of my eye.

I turned to look at it, and my suspicions were confirmed: A red-hot flare was soaring over my head towards the zombies' direction. I tried to remember what they called this kind of weapon in Resident Evil: Hand-held Flame Thrower. There was a loud explosion, and I saw a few zombies just disintegrate in front of my eyes.

I continued to run through the narrow corridors of the Umbrella facility. I had no idea where I was going, but I knew that this wasn't my first time here; I remembered that there was a laboratory on the fifth floor with some extremely important files, and I needed to get there as soon as possible. Still, there was something else calling me back - a voice somewhere in the back of my head telling me that I should've saved that girl first.

I looked at her for a moment before she disappeared around the corner, and then kept running. If I didn't hurry up, she would've been gone forever. When she passed by another corridor, I hid behind one of the walls and waited for her to pass by again before jumping out from behind my cover and grabbing her arm. She struggled for a bit before finally calming down when she saw who I was. She looked like someone who'd seen hell itself, but you could see her expression changing as she recognized me.

I immediately started walking towards an empty room while still holding onto her hand tightly, never letting go even once throughout the whole walk there. Once inside the room, we both sat down against one wall while trying to catch our breath. After taking a few deep breaths, I turned towards her and asked: "Ada... you're not..." Before I could finish my sentence, Ada let out a laugh so hard that it seemed like she couldn't breathe anymore. It took her almost half a minute to calm herself down before answering me: "Well, looks like you have quite an imagination."

"What? No way! You were about to say something else," said Ada as she stared at me with disbelief written all over her face. "That's ridiculous," I replied as if nothing happened at all. That's how we always acted - joking around with each other like we were best friends ever since we met years ago during our last mission together. Besides, if she really wanted to pretend nothing happened just now, then fine with me - pretending is one thing that we are good at after all these years since we met each other under such unusual circumstances.

After catching our breath again we got up from our seats and started walking outside towards the laboratory on the fifth floor where Ada found some files on Lisa Trevor two years ago when she came here looking for Umbrella's downfall - which was quite ironic considering how everything ended up turning out to be. This time however, it almost seemed like she underestimated what exactly happened here; judging from how many zombies got killed by those flares a little earlier in the hallways, it seemed like someone or something caused this outbreak in order to destroy all evidence left behind by Umbrella after their fall about two decades ago...

We reached the door that led us into the laboratory building without any further interruptions along our way there - erasing all those memories of being chased by zombies just moments ago felt great after seeing them die right in front of your eyes like that; sometimes it felt like more than just luck that saved us during our missions back then... It felt nice to be alive after experiencing death up close like that too - maybe that's why people enjoy horror movies so much... Well anyway... As soon as we reached the laboratory building's main entrance lobby on the third floor we heard some heavy footsteps coming towards us from behind; they sounded heavier than anything else so far - much heavier than any human feet could ever be... We both jumped out from behind one of the corners and aimed our guns at whoever or whatever it was approaching us from behind, but in return we only received an eerie laughter from beyond one of the corners instead: "Who dares enter my precious place?" asked an unknown voice who sounded quite young for someone who could make such heavy footsteps in reality - judging from his accent he must've been Japanese...

We decided to hide inside one of the rooms located deeper inside the lobby area instead until whoever he is leaves this place alone again once he gets whatever he wants from here...
