"Leila, what have I told you about going to the bazaar without a chaperone?"

"That it's dangerous, and that I'm never to do so?" Leila asked as she kissed her mother on the cheek. Her mother smiled back at her.

"Yes dear."

Leila walked over to her father and gave him a hug before kissing him on the cheek.

"Now, where are you off too?"

"I wanted to go see Giza today."

Her father frowned at this. "Giza? Why would you want to go there?"

Leila frowned at this question as well. "Because it's fun! There's lots of history there!"

Her father sighed as he looked at her mother for help. Her mother shook her head as if saying 'you know better than that'. Leila squinted at them both before looking down at the floor. She didn't understand why she couldn't go to Giza. It was one of the more popular tourist sites in Egypt and even though she wasn't allowed there, people kept telling her how beautiful it was. And she'd seen pictures of it! Pictures she had pulled up on the internet! And they looked really nice! So why couldn't she go? She heard her father sigh again before he spoke up. "I'll take you there one day." Leila looked up at him in surprise. "But not today." He added quickly before Leila could say anything. "I have work today and your mother is teaching class again." He explained with a shrug as he sat down on his sofa and turned on the TV. "Go ahead, girl." Leila nodded before giving them both another hug before heading out the door and locking it behind her. As she walked down their apartment building's hallway, she thought about what they said to each other after talking with them earlier in the week. They were angry when they found out that someone had broken into their home last Wednesday night while they were away at work; apparently some papers had been stolen from their safe box. Apparently someone had gone through their stuff without permission and seeing as these papers were very important, they couldn't afford for anyone else to get their hands on them. They'd locked everything away except for the papers needed for work and school, but this meant that they were all working overtime just to make sure everything was done quickly enough before classes or meetings started up again. It also meant that they were stressed out because they knew that they needed those papers; if they didn't make sure everything was ready in time then something bad would happen to them or someone else close to them-something very bad indeed! It wasn't until late Sunday night when Leila stood outside of their bedroom door in an attempt to hear what was being said did she realise exactly how bad things could get for them if those papers got into the wrong hands! Apparently there was a political dissident who had been arrested by the police for committing acts against the state; acts against 'the great leader'! The police had taken these papers from him along with many other things (some of which made no sense!) and if these papers got into his hands-if he found out who stole them-then those people would be punished severely! Leila shuddered as she remembered how mad her parents were when they realised that their safe box had been broken into! They hadn't known what happened until much later that day when one of their friends came by asking if Leila knew anything about some documents that might be missing from their safe box! The friend hadn't meant anything malicious by asking him-she just wanted to check whether or not Leila had taken anything from their safe box because she was curious and wanted to see what old clothes were hidden inside! But after her parents found out about this, everyone had started looking into the matter much closer than expected since those stolen documents could have consequences for all of them if word got out about what happened within their home during the week prior! Everyone could get hurt-everyone could die if word got out about what happened inside of their home during that week! Yet despite all of this, Leila still wanted to go Giza even though she knew it meant putting everyone in danger; especially if word got out about what happened within their home during that week! But even despite this fact, her parents agreed to let her go Giza tomorrow morning after hearing about how badly she wanted to see it; apparently they would just have to make sure nothing bad happened while she was gone or everything would fall apart around them, including themselves...
