 "This boy is a cockroach, he's been here before." The man had said. 

"Well maybe you're just not very good at killing him." The woman had replied.

"There's no such thing as can't be killed, I'm the best in this game. There's nothing he can do that I haven't seen before."

"Sure but what if he's just really fucking lucky? What if nothing works on him because of dumb luck?" The woman was growing impatient.

The man sighed and grabbed his bottle of whiskey off the coffee table. "You're right, there might be something else we can use. I'll think of it while I drink." He took a swig from the bottle and let out another sigh, "What did you say his name was again?"

The woman seemed surprised by the question, "I don't know his name but I know where he lives and when he walks home from work every day." She looked at her watch, "He should be walking home from work soon so we should get going."

                'It's almost time.' The man thought to himself as he exited the car. 'He should be walking past here any second now.' He looked down at his watch again for reassurance. '18:50... 18:51... 18:52...' He began to grow impatient waiting for the next minute to tick over to 18:53, 'Fuck this,' he mumbled as he pulled out his phone and started texting someone who would hopefully arrive soon. He typed in 'I'm getting bored.' 'Bored?' His phone buzzed a few seconds later with a reply from the person he had texted. 'Keep ur cool.' 'I don't have time for this shit,' he texted back furiously. 'U need to stay calm u got this.' He huffed and put his phone away in annoyance. It wasn't long until he saw movement across the street and then suddenly everything just seemed to happen all at once. The boy made eye contact with him and began running towards him screaming bloody murder while doing so, he ran into a parked car which flew into another one causing an explosion that sent both cars hurdling into the sky and leaving behind huge craters in their wake which collapsed under them when they hit the ground. The boy continued running towards him while dodging debris that was flying everywhere like some weird fucked up version of dodgeball or something, dodging all of it without even looking like it was effortless while still screaming like a banshee. The man looked around frantically trying to figure out what to do, he pulled out his gun but instead of aiming it at the boy, who was now only about 5 feet away from him and about ready to tackle him to the ground, he aimed it at the building behind him because some crazy shit was about to happen within seconds judging by how quickly things were falling apart around them. A huge beam rocketed through the air above them heading straight for them at breakneck speed and gaining momentum as it went along and now there was no way that either one of them could avoid it but somehow the kid jumped up into midair without even thinking about it and caught onto the end of the beam before flinging himself back down onto the ground while still clinging onto it when he landed with only mere inches between him and said ground before letting go of said beam which hit right where he had been standing milliseconds ago with enough force to level an entire city block while also setting off a chain reaction of explosions which broke apart buildings into pieces and caused earthquakes worse than those which have happened in places like Japan or that one island country where all those people died during one of their strongest earthquakes ever recorded after triggering an avalanche of rockslides that caused half the island nation to flood or something like that anyways fuck my life lolz win at life losers etc etc etc."The man hugged himself in excitement as he watched all of this unfold on live video feed from security cameras across various parts of town before breaking out into laughter after seeing all that destruction from first person view on a split screen video feed from one security camera ripped off from Youtube where you could see both what was going on in real time through regular video feed mode as well as what happened immediately after via split screen mode which showed everything blow up due to slow motion effect or whatever? You guys know what I mean right? You've all seen videos like this before right? Well I guess some people might not have cause they might just not care about watching videos online or whatever but yeah basically it was really funny haha!!! Hahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!"Oh my god oh my god oh my god!" The man screamed as he danced around laughing hysterically while watching all this shit unfold live on TV! "Oh my god oh my god oh my god!" He screamed again before putting his hand over his face which muffled his voice slightly. "Oh my god oh my god oh my god!" He screamed again before taking his hand away from his face and wiping tears away from his eyes as more laughter escaped from between his lips despite him doing what little could be done to suppress it. "Oh my god," He whispered quietly as reality finally started sinking in for him. This wasn't just some joke anymore or some sick practical joke somebody played on him for shits n giggles by making it look like somebody called me or whatever cause I know nobody would actually call me so maybe someone hacked into my phone or whatever but errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr maybe not cause like why would anybody hack into my phone anyway? That doesn't make any sense maybe someone hacked into their phone instead or whatever cause they hacked into everyone else's phones too probably so they could spy on us like they always do except this time they didn't spy on us they just gave us shit instead cause they wanted us to have fun or something idk idk idk idk idk idk idk idk idk idk idk idk idk idk idk ok wait no I'm getting distracted again wait hang on hang on let me focus for a sec okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okay okokayokayokayokayokayokay ok now where was I *looks up* uh wow how'd I get here? Anyway after dodging said brick thrown by said man whose name is Bob though nobody knows that yet because nobody has officially met Bob yet (except maybe whomever Bob has texted during this whole thing) anyway after dodging said brick thrown by Bob (ugh why are we even talking about Bob anyway? This however turned out not to be necessary since none other than Goddess herself decided she had enough of this nonsense already so she descended onto Earth from her heaven palace high above us all specifically to stop this madness although most people called her Godess which is technically true considering she IS goddess but most people don't know that yet so we'll get back to that later when appropriate if you care enough about this story or anything else written within its pages enough to read ahead past everything else but probably not since most people nowadays are lazy enough these days probably not even gonna read this far at all anyways besides whatever who cares right? Not me! Not you! Not anyone! In fact maybe nobody exists anymore because if we did then wouldn't we have stopped reading way earlier than this point because if everybody existed then whoever is reading wouldn't exist otherwise there wouldn't be anyone worth talking about within these pages let alone writing them unless somebody else wrote them but then whoever wrote those would have existed too so then there would need to be more people writing those pages etc etc etc etc."Jesus Christ!" Cried Goddess loudly upon arriving at Earth's surface where she found everyone staring dumbfoundedly at her because she looked exactly like Jesus Christ if Jesus Christ were a hot blonde chick instead! She asked angrily before taking off her crown which disappeared once removed because hot blonde chicks don't need stupid crowns anyway especially when Gods are involved because Gods are hot blonde chicks too obviously duh! "I mean seriously, nevermind," She continued speaking angrily

 I walked up to the door and saw a sign. It read "Irene's Attic. $10 entry fee. You can find anything you want here, provided it is not on the list." 

I thought about this for a while. I didn't really have a choice so I knocked on the door. A old lady came out of the house and asked me what I wanted.

"You're Irene right?" I said

"Yes, but how did you know?" she replied in surprise

"Oh, I uh, my friend told me about you." I said trying to avoid answering her question. She then took my $10 and opened the door. 

The place was creepy as hell. Everything was dark. The only light was from the moonlight that came through the windows. I walked further into the house and saw some old furniture scattered around in a hallway. 

"AHH!" I yelled when I tripped over something and fell backwards onto the floor. As I looked at what I tripped over, there was a dead body lying next to me with its head cut off. "W-what's going on here?!" 

"Why don't we go upstairs?" Irene said calmly as she picked up the bloody knife next to the dead body and started walking up the stairs with me following behind her. When we got to the top of the stairs, Irene stopped at one of the doors and turned around to face me again. "This is where all of my stuff is." 




I walked in as Irene followed behind me carrying her knife in her hand. The room looked like someone's attic filled with junk everywhere, but there were no cobwebs or dust anywhere in sight which looked very odd because this place looks like it hasn't been cleaned in centuries! 




















Irene pointed at some of the things on display and told me what they were for if you wanted them for free or paid for if you wanted it cleaned up first before picking them up! As we went along looking at all of Irene's stuff, there was a dusty old trunk sitting in the back corner of Irene's attic hidden by a pile of boxes and clothes that looked like it hadn't been touched or opened in forever! Once Irene saw that I noticed it she told me that everything else was free but that trunk would cost me $50 to open it because no one had ever been able to open it even though she tried many times with many different types of ways! Then she took her knife and stabbed it into the lock resetting it so that it would be easier for me to open!





	When she finished doing that we started walking toward each other until we both met halfway between us holding hands together staring at each other until our hands slipped apart from each other's hands breaking our eye contact causing us both to look down sadly making us both start crying uncontrollably! After about 5 minutes of crying we both stopped tears streaming down our faces as Irene looked at me one last time before taking her knife putting it in her pocket and leaving Irene's attic without saying anything else! Leaving me alone inside while looking at everything she owned while thinking about all of my memories with her...

 The mist shrouded streets of Athens were quiet. Such was the way of the city, especially in the early hours before dawn. The moon had set and by this point only a few taverns dotted here and there remained alight with their flagons, lamps, and heating braziers. The rest shuttered, locked tight for the night, or ransacked and left in shambles. 

The shopkeeps and stall owners were just as leery as any. It was a dangerous thing to be awake at such an hour without a good reason. You could find yourself robbed, your shop burnt down, or worse - murdered in your own home or on the street. That was why grandfather had taught me never to delay opening up shop when I was young. He had opened his shop at daybreak every morning for years until he finally passed away. My father continued his legacy after that, but when he too passed I knew it was time for a change. Not everyone can handle the responsibility of running a business on their own, let alone at such odd hours, so I closed up shop for a while to go out into the world and figure some things out. 

To my surprise though I found that after my time away from the city it had become more dangerous than ever. Gangs now roamed the streets openly with their knives and axes swinging against anyone who stood in their way. The thieves seemed to have multiplied tenfold and with them came the extortionists threatening you at knife-point for money or your life if you didn’t comply. I had even heard rumors that entire families were being targeted for ransom; houses burnt to the ground with all inside left for dead if they couldn’t afford to pay whatever it was that someone wanted from them. 

A chill ran down my spine as I remembered those stories. In one case it had been a family who owned a small farm outside of town that had been terrorized by a gang of raiders demanding tributes from them every month in exchange for keeping the peace. The family simply couldn’t afford it anymore and thus fled to Athens where they could live off of whatever meager earnings they could scrape together between themselves through odd jobs and day labor work once they arrived in town. It wasn’t long before they too were extorted under protection money by other thieves looking to run their own racket on these newcomers to town who didn’t know any better nor have anything worth taking so they resorted to killing whoever they deemed ‘worthless’ which in this case happened to be the entire family except for one lone survivor - a young boy no older than twelve or thirteen who narrowly escaped death thanks to his hiding place underneath the bed where he was discovered days later after burning embers finally settled enough for him to crawl out from beneath it. 

As terrifying as all of this sounded it didn’t deter me from returning home; not even close! I knew what needed to be done if I wanted peace and prosperity back in my homeland - I needed to get back home! But how? Even though it had been quite some time since I left I still remembered how dangerous Athens could be if you weren’t careful: getting kidnapped by pirates on your way out of port; mugged by thieves while walking through one of the slums; beat up by thugs because you looked like you might have something of value on your person... A thousand different ways you could end up dead or worse at any given moment if you weren’t prepared! The thought being killed by strangers scared me just as much as being chased down by loyal neighbors who took offense to some new merchant opening up shop nearby like grandfather did when he first started struggling to make ends meet dealing with competition across town but then again what choice did I have? Any longer away from Athens could mean disaster for me; not just professionally but also personally! 

I needed help! So I went along towards one area where all the thieves hung around waiting for unsuspecting marks: near some ruins from ancient times that reminded people of better times long gone yet many claimed still held old spirits and ghosts lingering about causing mischief whenever possible which is why some believed these ruins would be haunted by evil spirits that protected those caves within its walls which is why people avoided going near them unless necessity demanded otherwise, like now... Because rumor had it that there lived an old hermit living within these ancient ruins rumored to do strange things involving magic which is why nobody dared approach him; although there were others who said he was simply mad and should be left alone because what was he going to do, curse someone? No one knows because no one has ever tried talking with him despite his cave's entrance being barely concealed behind overgrown vines while others said that's exactly why we shouldn't approach him - so that we don't catch whatever madness may plague him! 

I wasn't sure what possessed me towards this decision but somehow found myself standing atop these ancient walls beside an opening leading into its depths where an old torch flickered desperately trying dismally against all odds at lighting up its surroundings while shadows danced upon its walls in tune with cackling voices whispering dark secrets only they knew about within this dark abyss seemingly designed purposely designed specifically only for those foolish enough to enter... As scary as all of this seemed though I felt myself beginning my descent into this unknown abyss until suddenly a voice whispered upon my shoulder: "You're making a mistake..." Spinning around quickly towards its source though nothing stood there except another torch further down this corridor whose flame danced urgently calling out towards me almost as if warning me against continuing deeper into this abyss's depths but still somehow compelled forward nonetheless through sheer willpower alone... 

Standing before two tunnels leading deeper into these ruins I stopped unable to decide which way would lead me closer towards reaching my goal but then deep within my heart something stirred: A strong sense warning me against venturing further into whichever tunnel led further into these forbidden halls lest anyone foolish enough chose would suffer unspeakable consequences including whatever spirit might still linger here despite never having died here during whatever war brought about these ancient ruins once thriving with life in distant ages past... Suddenly awoken from whatever trance had taken hold over me though grateful not to be trapped forever within such cursed chambers either side called out towards me tempting my mind into believing something greater lay beyond each doorway: One like an open door ready to welcome me into blissful oblivion while another warned against entering any farther lest my sanity be forever lost within its slumbering depths... After his parents were murdered, he was taken in by the local gang. He grew up with them, doing whatever it took to survive. He rose through the ranks quickly, and soon became the leader of the gang. He made money the only way he knew how; he did whatever it took to make money. But for a guy like him, there was no such thing as enough money. He had a taste for gold, and women, and expensive cars. But that wasn’t all he wanted; he wanted power, respect, control over everything and everyone. Why? He didn’t know; he just did. In his pursuit of this dream, he killed many people and made many enemies. And so one day while he was at home relaxing after a long day at work, two guys walked in to his house and shot him point blank in the head. The neighbors heard the loud gunshot and called the cops. They arrived moments later and arrested one of his men who had been guarding his house.

After months in jail awaiting trial, that same man now sat in the courtroom listening to all of the evidence against him for more than one hundred murders. As each witness was brought before the judge to testify against him, he looked back with a blank expression on his face. When all of the evidence against him had been presented and all of the witnesses had testified, they brought in his lawyer to make a closing argument to the jury before they began deliberation. But as soon as his lawyer began to speak, he jumped out of his chair and yelled “No!”

The lawyers were taken aback by his outburst, but they continued their closing arguments regardless of what their client was doing behind them. Finally when they finished arguing on behalf of their client, they stood up from their chairs and turned around to face him once again. But this time they were not alone; three large men wearing suits approached them from behind with large baseball bats in hand. The judge ordered everyone else out of the room except for the defendant’s lawyer and himself. Once everyone else had left the courtroom, our client turned towards them on his knees with his hands tied behind his back with a rope tied around his neck and said “I don’t want you guys to represent me anymore okay? You get my point? I want you guys off my back so you can live your lives okay?”

The three men looked back at him without saying anything for several seconds until finally one of them said “Look man we don’t want any trouble okay? We just need you to pay your debt okay? That’s all we care about! It doesn’t matter how or where you get it but you need to get us twenty million dollars by next week or we will cut your head off! You understand me?! You need to earn us our money or we will kill you! Just like your parents! Remember them?! They are dead because you didn’t earn us our money! You understand me?! You got that?! You got it?! You understand!?”

Our client looked back at them nodding vigorously while saying “Yes sir I got it alright! I got it alright! I got it alright! I got it alright!  Root and Henrietta were walking through the forest on their way to another town. It was getting late, and they hoped to find a place to stay for the night.

"Why do we even bother sometimes?" Henrietta asked her rooster companion. "We don't need to change the world, we just need to get through it."

Root shrugged, "It's more important than you think. Something as little as us picking up a piece of trash can in the road can make all the difference."

At that moment, Root picks up a piece of litter from the ground and throws it in the nearest garbage can. 

"See? That's why we're doing this."

Henrietta could only roll her eyes at her friend's optimism. She didn't like being out so late at night, but she knew that she could trust Root to keep them safe. The two continued their walk until they noticed something strange ahead of them. There was a bright light shining brightly in front of them, causing them both to shield their eyes. They walked closer and soon realized that it was a portal! 

"I've never seen anything like this!" Root exclaimed, "Maybe this is what we're suppose to be looking for!" He then looks at Henrietta with a look of excitement on his face. "Do you think.." Root trails off as he turns his head back towards the portal. 

Henrietta rolls her eyes again, "Of course not! We don't have time for this nonsense! If you want some adventure, I suggest you go find one without me!" Henrietta then walks away from him and towards home. 

Root sighs as Henrietta leaves him alone with the portal and decides that he may as well take a look inside before heading home too. He slowly walks towards the light source and places his foot inside it...
