It was the first day of spring. The skies were a perfect blend of blue and white, which created a vibrant cerulean that Jihyo couldn’t get enough of. To her, it was the most beautiful shade of blue she had ever seen. It was truly a sight to behold. She had been walking up and down 5th avenue for hours now, taking in the sights of New York City during the springtime. It never ceased to amaze her how much the city changed when spring came around; flowers blossomed all over the place, trees grew new leaves, and people looked so much happier.

She had spent her morning at Time Square, admiring the “ball” that dropped at midnight on December 31st every year. A few weeks ago, she would have been so anxious to be back home by 12:00am, but not this time. For some reason, she actually enjoyed being a bit out of sorts with timezones and the like. Maybe it was because she hadn’t travelled alone before. Perhaps it was because she knew that Talha would always be waiting for her no matter where she went or when she returned. Whatever it was, she felt an unexplainable sense of freedom as she pondered these thoughts while standing face-to-face with the laughing clown statue in Times Square.

Jihyo thought about how happy Talha would be if she could see all this with her own eyes; how much awe and wonder Talha would express as they visited each landmark together. “You’re such a goofball sometimes Jihyo!” Jihyo smiled as she imagined herself pinching Talha’s cheeks when they visited the Empire State Building together. Her smile quickly faded though as she remembered that Talha couldn’t see any of this anymore. She missed her dearly and was glad to have chosen this journey with her in mind. She wanted to share these moments with Talha so badly; to show her everything there is to see in New York and beyond, but alas all those dreams were just that.. Only dreams.

The thoughts brought tears to Jihyo’s eyes as memories of their last days together flooded back into her mind again. Once again, Jihyo relived every moment from their fateful last day together:

[The night before]

*Knock knock*

"Talha.."

"Yes, love?"

"We need to talk."

"Oh?"

"Talha.. I've decided I'm going to go back home tomorrow."

"What? Why? We haven't even left yet!"

*Sigh* "I know.. I want you to come with me.. But I can't ask you to leave everything behind for me."

[The next morning]

*Knock knock*

"Talha... Please... Open up."

In pain and without hesitation, Talha slowly opened the door looking down at the floor in shame. As her eyes looked up into Jihyo's face, they began to fill up with tears while Jihyo's eyes began to water in response.*

"Ji... Ho... Yo..."

Without saying anything further or thinking twice about what they were doing, Jihyo wrapped her arms tightly around Talha's body while kneeling down close to the ground himself in order to hug Talha closer towards him.* This is it thought Jihyo silently as he held his lover closer than ever before.* This is goodbye thought Talha tearfully as he hugged back with just as much force if not more.* They both knew this moment would eventually come, but neither one of them ever expected it would happen like this.*

A few days after their heartbreaking farewell, Jihyo found himself making international headlines as allegations surfaced that connected him to a series of high-profile crimes. Apparently, an individual claiming to be Jihyo had taken responsibility for acts of vandalism and arson carried out on numerous government buildings and landmarks, including the destruction of a Trump Tower. The impostor had appeared on major news networks, professing his love for an obscure historical figure named Talaat Pasha Al Hussein, before imploring anyone with information about her whereabouts to come forth. While investigators were unable to substantiate any link between Jihyo and this mysterious "Talaat Pasha," many observers believed that he was being targeted by a dangerous criminal hoping to divert attention away from his own misdeeds.

With friends, family, and strangers questioning his sanity and intentions, Jihyo remained steadfast in his mission to honor Talha's memory by exploring New York City and beyond. Undeterred by the surreal scandal that made him a subject of worldwide intrigue, Jihyo continued to forge his own path – propelled by a profound belief that love would ultimately prevail, no matter the obstacles encountered along the way. And it was this unshakable conviction that led him to be known as "The Man Who Loved Too Much."

Jihyo embraced the moniker bestowed upon him by the media, "The Man Who Loved Too Much," with a twinge of bitterness in his heart. It was true that his love for Talha knew no bounds, but he couldn't help but feel the weight of the world on his shoulders. The accusations against him had taken a toll not only on his reputation but also on his spirit. Yet, Jihyo refused to let the darkness consume him. He saw this journey as a chance to prove everyone wrong, to show that love could triumph over the darkest of shadows.

As Jihyo continued his exploration of New York City, he found solace in the beauty that surrounded him. The bustling streets, the vibrant colors, and the ever-present sense of possibility reminded him of the love he once shared with Talha. Every step he took was filled with memories, both joyous and painful.

One day, while walking through Central Park, Jihyo stumbled upon a small group of artists gathered around a park bench. Their easels and paintbrushes lay scattered across the grass as they captured the essence of the park on their canvases. Jihyo felt drawn to their creative energy, and something inside him urged him to approach them.

"Are you interested in art?" one of the artists asked, glancing up from her painting.

Jihyo smiled, his eyes flickering with a mixture of curiosity and pain. "I used to paint," he confessed. "It was something I shared with someone I loved."

The artist nodded sympathetically, understanding the depth behind his words. "Why did you stop?"

"Life got in the way," Jihyo admitted, his voice tinged with regret. "But I've come to realize that love and art are inseparable. They both have the power to heal."

The artist motioned for Jihyo to sit beside her on the bench, and he willingly obliged. Their conversation flowed effortlessly as they talked about lost love and the resiliency of the human spirit. The other artists joined in, their stories intertwining with Jihyo's own. Each shared the pain they had experienced—heartbreak, loss, or personal demons—and how art had become their salvation.

Inspired by their words, Jihyo's passion for painting reignited within him. With each stroke of the brush, he poured his emotions onto the blank canvas, creating vivid expressions of love, longing, and hope. The vibrant colors merged and danced on the surface, breathing life into his pain and transforming it into something beautiful.

Word of Jihyo's artwork began to circulate throughout the city. Galleries and art enthusiasts clamored to witness the pieces that radiated such raw emotion. The critics praised his use of color and the honest, vulnerable nature of his work. Jihyo became a symbol of resilience, a testament to the transformative power of love and art intertwined.

But amid the newfound success and recognition, Jihyo remained down-to-earth, never forgetting the source of his inspiration. He dedicated each painting to Talha, with a small note hidden in the corner, expressing his eternal love for her. They were love letters on canvas, poured from a broken heart that had learned to heal through creation.

As time passed, Jihyo's fame as an artist grew, and the accusations against him slowly faded into obscurity. People began to see beyond the false narrative the world had created and recognized the truth—that Jihyo's love for Talha was genuine, pure, and untainted.

One day, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow on the city, Jihyo stood at the edge of the East River, gazing at the water's reflection. The city skyline stretched before him, a testament to the resilience of human hearts and the power of love.

Through the pain and trials, Jihyo had become a beacon of hope for those who had lost loved ones, for those who believed that love couldn't exist beyond the confines of time and space. And in that moment, watching the lights of New York City twinkle like stars, Jihyo made a silent promise—to continue spreading love through his art, to honor Talha's memory, and to show the world that true love never dies.

As Jihyo turned away from the river, he could almost feel Talha's presence, guiding him with unseen hands. And with her love nestled in his heart, he embarked on a new chapter—keeping their love alive, one brushstroke at a time.
