Stonewrought's Triumph.
·
Published 7/9/2023In present-day Australia, EternDrin, a defiant and indomitable Stonewrought woman, stands her ground against a gang of ruthless bounty hunters in a high-stakes showdown. Despite their intimidation tactics and degrading insinuations, EternDrin's unwavering determination is ignited, leading to a jaw-dropping display of power that leaves her adversaries in awe. Unbeknownst to them, this encounter sets in motion a chain of events that will challenge society's perceptions and demand the reckoning that only a fearless woman can deliver. A thrilling tale where courage meets defiance, equality clashes with prejudice, and the shattering of limits becomes the ultimate triumph.

At the table sat a lone woman, her long red hair tied back behind her head, and her body wrapped in a black leather coat. Her hands rested on the oak table, and she sipped from a clear glass of what appeared to be water, but was in reality whiskey.
The four bounty hunters entered the bar quickly, each with a hand resting on their respective weapon. The first was an orc, his legs covered only by torn jeans and boots, and his chest bare. His skin was green and brown and he carried two large axes on his back. Next was an elf, his skin pale as snow and his hair golden. He wore a green tunic with white pants that ended at mid-calf. Arakrocran moved toward the woman, his hands outstretched. She remained seated and merely placed her drink on the table before looking at him with calm eyes.
"Hey there lil' lady" he said with a sly grin "You look like you could use some company."
The third was a human male wearing dusty tan pants and shirt. He had long black hair tied at the base of his neck with a brown ribbon. A long dirk hung from his belt. The last one was another Orc who stood near Arakrocran's shoulder. The fourth was a man also clad in black leather, though he wore no jacket or any other form of armor over it. His arms were covered by thick leather sleeves which ended just above his wrist, allowing for full movement of his hands without hindrance. His head was shaved bald save for two small horns protruding from either side of his head.
"I think I'm good" replied EternDrin as she took another sip "In fact I think you guys should leave."
Arakrocran laughed "Oh we'll leave alright" he reached into his pocket for a small vial "But only after we've had our fun."
Suddenly Arakrocran swung around with his right arm outstretched reaching for EternDrin's neck while still holding onto the vial with his left hand behind him. Before he could make contact however, EternDrin kicked his hand away and swept his feet out from underneath him while standing up herself, sending him crashing to the ground hard where she proceeded to kick him twice in the side before landing firmly back down on her seat again with both feet planted firmly on the ground beneath her seat. In a flash she reached under the table grabbing hold of one of her steel gauntlets which she strapped around her left forearm before kicking Arakrocran once more hard in the stomach before resting her foot on his stomach as well pushing slightly into it giving him no room to breath or move as she glared down at him with eyes filled with anger and hate before saying coldly "You're not having your fun."
The second orc turned towards her now holding a club in each hand which he wielded awkwardly one in each hand as if he'd never used them before suddenly swinging both clubs towards her as she dodged to the right avoiding them easily before swinging around to catch him between the legs causing him to cry out in pain as he fell hard to the floor moving no further as EternDrin turned back towards Arakrocran who had started coughing violently but still showed no signs of leaving as she lifted her foot off of him but grabbed hold of one of her gauntlets which she slipped on before turning back towards the second orc who stood wavering on both feet holding both clubs loosely in front of himself as she jumped over towards him landing lightly on both feet before swinging around with full force hitting him squarely between the shoulder blades sending him flying into the wall hard where he collapsed unconscious as EternDrin turned back towards Arakrocran who lay still unable to get up still coughing violently as she walked calmly over to him taking hold of one of her gauntlets which she slipped on while staring down at Arakrocran who's coughs began to die down slowly until finally they stopped altogether leaving only silence in their wake until EternDrin spoke up "Now are you going to stay here or am I going to have to drag you out?"
After hearing this Arakrocran slowly got up while keeping an eye on EternDrin's movements who didn't move an inch closer instead waiting patiently for what would happen next when finally Arakrocran slowly put one foot in front of the other shuffling towards the door slowly until finally getting outside where he looked over at EternDrin silently before spitting at her feet then turning around and walking off without another word leaving EternDrin alone inside the tavern once more staring blankly at nothing but empty space wondering how things had gone wrong so quickly...
EternDrin sighed and ran a hand through her hair, her heart still pounding from the encounter. She glanced at the remaining patrons in the bar, who had all watched the scene unfold with wide-eyed fascination. They quickly averted their gazes as she made eye contact, pretending to be engrossed in their drinks.
She knew she had to tread carefully from now on. Trouble seemed to follow her wherever she went, and she had hoped that this small tavern on the outskirts of town would offer a respite from the chaos of her past. Slipping her gauntlet off her arm, she drank the last remains of her whiskey, the fiery liquid igniting a spark inside her, fueling her determination.
EternDrin had a history of running from her troubles, but not this time. Not anymore. She had been running for far too long, always staying one step ahead of her pursuers. The faces of the bounty hunters flashed in her mind, a reminder of the past she had tried to bury. But now, she realized that confronting her past was the only way to truly be free.
As she left the table and made her way to the bar counter, the elderly bartender glanced at her with sympathy in his eyes. He had seen many like her pass through these doors seeking solace or a fresh start. But not everyone had the strength to face their demons head-on.
"What can I get you, miss?" the bartender asked, his voice soft but filled with understanding.
EternDrin leaned against the counter, her gaze fixed on a lone bottle of aged whiskey behind the glass. "Pour me a double, and keep them coming," she replied, a determined edge in her voice.
As the bartender poured the amber liquid into a glass, EternDrin considered her options. She needed information. Information about who had sent those bounty hunters after her. Information about the secrets she had unknowingly stumbled upon that had made her a target.
She turned her head slightly, catching a glimpse of a cloaked figure sitting at a dimly lit corner of the tavern. The figure's presence seemed to radiate knowledge and experience. This could be her chance.
EternDrin downed the first glass of whiskey, feeling a comforting warmth spread through her body. She knew her journey was far from over, but she was no longer alone. She had her gauntlets, her resolve, and now, a potential ally. With determination in her eyes, she made her way towards the mysterious figure.
The figure looked up as she approached, revealing a face aged with wisdom and the weariness of a life lived in the shadows. Wrinkles lined their face, accentuated by the flickering candlelight. EternDrin could see the glimmer of curiosity in the figure's eyes as they observed her.
"Can I help you, m'lady?" the figure's voice was soft and filled with a hint of intrigue.
EternDrin inclined her head respectfully. "I seek answers," she replied, her voice steady.
The figure leaned back, crossing their arms. "Answers, you say? Answers to what?"
"To why I'm being hunted," EternDrin said, her voice edged with determination. "I need to know who wants me dead and why."
A knowing smile crept across the figure's face as they nodded slowly. "You have courage, my dear. That alone will take you far on this journey. But be warned, for the answers you seek may plunge you deeper into a darkness you never knew existed."
EternDrin squared her shoulders, meeting the figure's gaze head-on. She had long prepared herself for the possibility of facing darkness, for she knew that only by shining a light on the shadows could she find the truth. The figure seemed to sense her unwavering resolve and nodded once more.
"There is a hidden city, lost to time," the figure began. "It rests in the heart of the forbidden forest. Seek out the wise woman who resides there. She holds the key to the secrets you seek."
EternDrin listened intently, committing the figure's words to memory. She knew that this journey would not be easy, but she had come too far to turn back now. Her destiny awaited, and she was ready to face whatever lay ahead.
With a determined nod, EternDrin bid the figure farewell and left the tavern, her mind already racing with plans and strategies. The road would be treacherous, but she would not falter. She would confront her past, unlock the secrets that threatened her life, and finally find the redemption she so desperately sought. And so, with a fiery determination burning in her soul, EternDrin set out on her perilous journey into the forbidden forest, guided by the glimmer of hope that lay hidden within the heart of darkness.
