When the screen flickered on, the game began.

Kenny entered his name and tapped the button on the bottom right of the screen. After a moment, he was greeted with a message: Your character is named Kenny!

Great. Another self-insert protagonist. The world would be littered with "Kennys" if this game ever made it big.

Kenny read over his character sheet. His character was male, being born in 1990 and living in California. He had brown hair and hazel eyes, standing at 5'8".

The first page of the player's manual set up the backstory for his journey. You've been taken from your home planet Earth to another solar system, where you meet a girl named Ixanthia who claims to be a princess of her own planet but has been exiled for unknown reasons. She invites you to visit her home planet as her guest, and she will answer any questions you have about it.

Kenny clicked through several more pages of documentation before deciding that it was time to save and quit for the day. This game was definitely one meant for an older audience; nothing NSFW yet, but there were plenty of references to drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes which seemed a bit out of place for what looked like a dating sim. It wouldn't be surprising if there were some kind of secret adult version of this game buried deep in its code somewhere. Despite all the strange game mechanics, the story itself felt oddly familiar: boy meets girl, falls in love, spends a bunch of time with her... then something happens that prevents him from spending time with her anymore. It's one of those stories that's just so common that everyone can relate to it regardless of how many times they've heard it before.

It makes sense why Ixanthia wants to talk about this planet she's from - she doesn't want their relationship to end up like her own did. Who knows? Maybe things turned out differently for her down here? If Kenny could help her fix whatever went wrong or at least get some closure on what happened, maybe she'd return the favor by helping him get back home. A deal's a deal after all! Still... I wonder why she picked me out of all people? There must be someone else here who could help her more than I could... maybe she doesn't even have time to find them? Kenny decided to sleep on it before doing anything else tomorrow; he was pretty tired after being jolted awake by an earthquake earlier today anyway. Better safe than sorry when it comes to earthquakes!

Kenny woke up the next morning, refreshed and ready to dive back into the game. He couldn't deny the excitement bubbling inside him, fueled by the mystery of Ixanthia's world and the potential for a grand adventure. As he logged back in, the screen flickered to life, transporting him to the vibrant and enchanting universe of the game.

Kenny hesitated for a moment before answering, unsure of whether he should divulge the details of his mission. Yet, something about the old man's aura made him feel safe and understood. "I am searching for answers," Kenny finally said, his voice filled with determination. "Answers about a planet called Earth and a girl named Ixanthia. She claims to be a princess, exiled from her own world."

But be warned, young traveler, the path ahead is fraught with danger and uncertainty. Only true love and unwavering loyalty can conquer the darkness that lies in wait."

Kenny's hand trembled as he reached out to take the pendant. The weight of his mission settled heavily on his shoulders, but there was also a glimmer of hope.
