Tiny Yeon's Big Adventure

“Hey dad, I’m going to the library to study a bit. Can you give me some money?” His father replied with a nod and a smile as he continued reading his book.

Yang Yeon walked out of the house and waited for the bus, but it never came. In the middle of nowhere, he realized that he forgot his wallet at home. He turned around and started to walk back home in frustration. However, the sun was setting, and he had no idea how far away from home he was. As he was walking, he saw a bar on the corner of the street. He walked inside to cool off from the heat.

He sat down at the bar and ordered a drink. From where he was sitting, he could see that there were more people in other rooms behind curtained glass doors. His curiosity got the best of him, so he went over to one of the glass doors and opened it slowly.

Behind it was a wide room full of people playing poker and betting on their hands. A man wearing leather gloves entered the room and placed a stack of cash in front of one player, who smiled happily after seeing it. Yeon noticed something peculiar about this man: his feet were bare and looked like they were stained with ink or paint. Curious and excited, he followed him into another room where there were people playing roulette with cards instead of balls and chips instead of numbers. The man placed another stack of cash in front of another player here as well, who also smiled when she saw it.

Yeon wondered what kind of game these people were playing that earned them so much money without them even lifting their hands or moving from their seats! He wanted to try it himself so bad, but first he needed money so that he could bet too...he would have to ask his father for some money later tonight when they got back home from dinner out together; maybe enough for one bet! He figured that if his dad gave him enough money for one bet then it wouldn’t be stealing anyway since it wasn’t that much money...

When they got back home, Yang Yeon asked his father for money, only enough for one bet. His father quickly gave it to him after noticing he didn't have any money on him.

“It’s getting late so why don’t we just get takeout tonight? I can order some food while you go take a bath. We can eat when you get out,” said his father as he grabbed his keys off the table and headed towards the door.

Yang Yeon nodded in reply before heading upstairs to take a shower while his dad left for dinner with friends at an Indian restaurant not far from their house. After taking a bath, Yeon came downstairs fully dressed in jeans and a plain white shirt that read ‘Detective’ on the front pocket with black letters underneath for emphasis.

He walked over to the windowsill where there was a cardboard box filled with different sized detective badges in plastic bags, as well as various mini guns made out of paper clips and pencils inside smaller plastic bags also kept inside the box. He opened one of the bags and picked up a mini gun from it before putting on its badge. Then, he placed both the gun and the badge on the dining table after closing the box.

Yeon headed to his bedroom to retrieve some money from his dresser before returning downstairs. He opened the box again, grabbed one of the badges, and placed it back down on the table. Picking up one of the mini guns, he set it down once more on top of the table before placing all these items back into the box and closing it.

His father returned with the takeout food from the Indian restaurant, and they enjoyed their meal together. After eating and exchanging pleasantries, they said goodnight to each other before heading to their respective bedrooms upstairs. Yeon couldn't help but think about the gambling establishment he'd discovered earlier in the day. With his father's money, he now had enough for one bet. Little did he know that taking this path would change his life forever.
