"You want me to sit on your face?" Melony asked, her lips curled in disgust. "Really?"

"Yes," Axol said simply. "I'm gonna die tonight. I'd like you to be the last thing I see."

The two were standing atop a building in a city far from their home. The city was new, the building even newer. It had been built for those who oppressed them. Those who were about to kill them. And there they stood, unafraid, watching the flicker of the flames of revolution spread across the night sky.

"Why? Why do you want that? Why would you want to die like this?" Melony asked tearfully, looking down at him with a confused look on her face.

"Because I have nothing left to live for," he replied solemnly, looking up at her with a wry smile on his face and tears in his eyes. "Because I don't believe in anything anymore."

Melony shook her head furiously and her black hair gleamed against the light of the burning buildings around them. "You can't die without faith! You can't!" she shouted angrily as she stomped her foot down hard on the roof of the building, creating a resounding thud that echoed through the empty streets below them. She stepped forward towards him, her face inches from his own and looked him straight in the eye before saying fiercely, "If you love me at all, Axol, then live for me! Live for love! Live for freedom! Live so we can be free together!"

Axol swallowed and closed his eyes as he felt his heart break into pieces within his chest. When he opened his eyes again he smiled sadly at her and whispered softly, "That's why I need this...this last moment with you...to be able to let go..." He leaned forward and pressed his forehead against hers as his arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her close to him with all his might until he felt her soft body pressed firmly against his own. His heart beat wildly as he felt Melony's hot breath tickle against his neck as she buried her face in it while she sobbed quietly into it. Her tears soaked through his shirt and seeped down onto their chests where they met and mingled together on their skin, creating a small puddle between them on the rooftop of their prison. He could feel Melony's body trembling under her clothes and knew that she must have been crying harder now than ever before in her life because she was finally being forced to relinquish everything that she held dear to herself. All because of him. All because of what he had done to bring about this moment between them now when death awaited both of them just outside those doors behind them waiting patiently for its chance to take one of them away while leaving behind only painful memories of what once was... before it had all gone wrong...
