Hiroshi in Vermoord: A Tale of Love and Adventure.
·
Published 3/25/2023In the rural European town of Vermoord, an ambitious Japanese youth, Hiroshi, tries to conceal his mysterious past and protect his newfound love for Marjo, while also eluding his persistent rivals, in a suspenseful and romantic journey filled with twists, turns, and a feel-good finish.
“So, you’re a Japanese guy?”
Hoshi crossed his legs and sipped the cup of coffee in his hands. He looked up at Marjo with a smile, who sat across the small table with an inquisitive stare. Hoshi sat on the bar stool and looked around the quaint cafe that had only about four or five other customers in it. It was too early for lunch and too late for breakfast. The sun was starting to peek through the clouds as if it wanted to shine as much as it could before vanishing for the night.
Hoshi smiled and nodded, “Yeah, I am.”
Marjo sat back and crossed her arms, “Okay, so...you speak Dutch?” She chuckled and glanced around the café. Hoshi followed her gaze. He noticed that their conversation had caught the attention of a few people who were finally paying attention to something other than their phones or food. Hoshi wondered why they weren’t talking normally, or perhaps even whispering, if they didn’t want people to eavesdrop on them.
“No, not really,” Hoshi slowly responded in English so that she could understand him without him having to repeat himself in Dutch, “Mostly just English and Japanese.”
Marjo opened her mouth to speak before pausing herself and sighing. She leaned forward again, “How did you get here? You took a plane from Japan to Amsterdam...then what? Walked? Rode a bicycle?” She laughed nervously at her own joke. Hoshi thought it was funny as well but he didn't let his smile show just yet. He adjusted his glasses then replied:
“I took a boat from Tokyo to Amsterdam...then another train from there to Rotterdam...and then I walked here from there!” He said proudly, now revealing his smile. Marjo tilted her head in disbelief but couldn't hide her wide grin either, “That's crazy! How long did it take you!?” She exclaimed. Hoshi crossed his arms and thought about it for a moment:
“Two days I guess...it wasn't that bad though! And besides...it was pretty cool getting away from everything like that! Sometimes I think I spend too much time on my phone or laptop doing work stuff or whatever! It was nice to just disconnect once in a while! But now I'm back online so it's all good! What did you do while I was gone? Did you miss me? Did you try and find me? Did you think I left forever!? Did you cry!? Did your dad cry!? Did your mom cry?! Did everyone cry?! Did everyone hate me because I left!? Are they still hating me right now!? Oh my god don't tell me everyone hates me! T-tell me no one hates me!! Tell me everyone loves me!! Tell me I can stay here with you always!! Please please please please pleasssssseeee tell me-ahhhhhhhh!! AHHHHHHHH!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Hoshi suddenly jumped up out of his chair and grabbed onto Marjo's face with both of his hands before letting out a primal scream into her surprised expression. Marjo pushed him off of her but not before he managed to give her a deep kiss on the lips that lasted for what seemed like hours (but wasn't). After a few moments of this intense exchange of saliva and saliva-based fluids between them, Marjo pushed Hoshi off of her again:

Hoshi's mind started racing again as he tried explaining everything to her as fast as he could without making any sense:
"It's okay Marjo! Everything is okay! It's okay! It's okay! Let's go back together now!! Your dad won't try anything if we go together I promise!!" He said while sniffling while wiping away some of his own tears from his cheeks. Marjo shook her head violently: "My dad is dead Hoshi! My dad died six months ago in a car crash!" She screamed at him before suddenly growling at him viciously like an animal that was going to attack its prey (in reality she was acting more like an angry girl), "Do you think I don't know that?! Do you think that's why I'm sad?!" She screamed at him again as more tears streamed down from under those thick glasses of hers : "I'm not sad because my dad is dead!!" She yelled at him: "I'm sad because you're insane!! You're fucking insane!!" Her voice started getting quieter and he could see tears streaming down those angelic cheeks: "And leaving like that with no goodbye...and never telling anyone where you went...and never calling anyone..." Her voice trailed off into muffled cries: "And apparently never returning home!" Her eyes were now closed as she rested her head against the table with both hands over her face: "...Just leaving without saying goodbye or anything..." Her voice trailed off again into silence as she finally stopped speaking completely...while wiping away all those tears from behind those thick glasses of hers: "...Why would you do such things?! ...I thought we were friends..." Her muffled cries continued past those hands covering the lower halves of her face: "...I thought we loved each other..." Another minute passed by in silence other than for the muffled cries coming from behind those hands covering most of Marjo's face: "...I thought we were supposed to be together forever..." Her muffled cries eventually died down once more into complete silence: "...But now you're gone..." Her muffled cries faded into nothingness once more after several minutes passed by where only silence prevailed among them both sitting at the small cafe table setting between them facing each other: "...And now it hurts." Her muffled cries finally dissipated into nothingness after several more minutes passed by in complete silence while they both sat staring into each others teary eyes across that small cafe table setting between them facing each other where two cups of coffee lay half empty on either side of them with no one touching them anymore: "-]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]=]" =+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=="
"...And now it hurts." She felt something warm sitting next to her on the barstool next to her hip rubbing up against it gently (she forgot what it was called) that made her feel better somehow knowing someone else was there with her soothingly rubbing up against her body (this thing next to her must have been human). This warm thing next to her brought its hand up to wipe away some salty liquid from under one eye (she forgot what this liquid was called).
