Deep Sea Courage: A Renaissance Odyssey

The first thing I noticed was the smell. It was a smell I've never experienced in my life, it was a smell that didn't exist on land. A strange smell of old fish and new, of sea water and sand, of a place far away from the world. The smell made me feel sick and dizzy, like someone had poured a bucket of salt water into my body.

The second thing I noticed was the pressure. As soon as I left the safety of the submarine, I felt like my head would implode from the pressure. My ears popped and rang like church bells with each step I took, but I pressed onward. The light was blinding at first, but after adjusting to it gradually, I could see for miles around me. The water was crystal clear, deep blue with hints of green and purple flitting about from where the sun shone upon them. There were fish everywhere as well; different looking fish in all sorts of shapes and sizes swimming along with me or hiding behind rocks or coral reefs. Some had glowing patterns on their skin, others had bright colors; some were big enough to swallow the entire submarine whole while others were so small they looked more like specks of dust floating through the water.

I walked up to one of those large fish, holding out my hand to see if it would nibble me, when something happened that changed everything forever.

A shark appeared out of nowhere (well not really nowhere since there were sharks every which way), approaching me like he knew something that I didn't. It wasn't until he got closer that I realized what it was: there was a woman in his mouth! Her arms flailed helplessly as her head bobbed back and forth across his teeth, her long brown hair flowing out behind her like the tail fin of a mermaid. She kicked him hard in the gills with her heels and he let out an angry growl before trying to bite her again, only to miss her by inches this time as she ducked under his jaws at the last moment. A rush of bubbles streamed from his snout as he turned around in circles looking for her again before finally giving up and swimming off with her still in his mouth into deeper waters.

I stood there for a long time thinking about what just happened before deciding that I should probably help this woman who was currently being eaten by a shark somewhere underwater in an unexplored part of this underwater kingdom because that makes sense right?

I searched all over for any sign of them but they seemed to have disappeared without any trace whatsoever. It wasn't until much later on that I finally found them again as they passed by a reef full of brightly colored starfish clinging onto rocks with their suction-cupped legs. They were so close together that you could hardly tell where one ended and another began; they were all bright reds and oranges with white spots on their backs like polka dots on a ballerina's tutu. This reef stretched out so far across the ocean floor that it took over twenty minutes for them to pass through it once before continuing down deeper still into even darker waters where no sunlight could reach anymore; only the occasional eerie glow from bioluminescent creatures hidden deep beneath the surface here and there.

The shark swam past countless other creatures until eventually he came across an enormous stone statue standing tall amongst a vast landscape covered in sharp rock formations jutting up from below amidst twisted tree-like structures reaching up high towards the surface above like giant fingers grasping for air before dying away underneath into nothingness once more leaving only more darkness below them until eventually they too faded away into nothingness without ever finding any light again ever again. He stopped in front of this statue which looked very odd indeed with its massive right hand pointing downwards towards its feet while its left hand pointed upwards towards the surface above us all; it looked almost like someone had melted down pieces of metal together to create this thing before sticking them back together again incorrectly so that some parts stuck together while others remained separate - a melted clockwork toy perhaps? A half-finished sculpture? Or maybe just a statue made by someone who had never learned how to draw properly? Whatever it may have been though, I couldn't exactly figure out why it looked so odd or why it would be standing here at all except maybe because....it seemed to be guarding something? Like maybe whatever was down there today was supposed to be guarded by this statue but instead whoever made this statue forgot about whatever was down there today when he made it? Only time will tell what secrets lie beneath our feet!

As he approached closer though this statue started doing peculiar things: first its right hand started slowly rotating around in circles while simultaneously pointing downwards further than before while its left hand slowly started slowly rotating around upwards until eventually both hands met each other at their tips creating an X shape at their meeting point which grew brighter and brighter until eventually there was enough light shining from these hands that wherever they pointed became illuminated all around us causing shadows to dance upon everything nearby causing us all (including me) to shield our eyes lest we go blind (or worse!). Then when we finally managed to open our eyes again he spotted his target deep within these glowing lights staring back at him defiantly whilst still kicking him whenever she got close enough; she must have been very strong indeed! But she didn't look very happy about being eaten yet again...but now she had nowhere else to run because her back was against one side of this X shaped wall while he simply continued swimming forward without stopping; there was no escape now! She kicked him once more but missed entirely, instead kicking one of his teeth! His tooth fell loose onto the sandy ocean floor below us making quite a loud noise as it landed causing everyone nearby (including me) to look over at where it landed curiously wondering what caused such a loud noise while not realizing that this woman had been captured by this shark once more! All thoughts quickly disappeared though when suddenly a loud rumble sounded somewhere behind us followed by a deafening roar!

"Sharks are always hungry!" said an elderly voice nearby causing everyone present including myself (even you dear reader!) to turn around suddenly toward its source (which turned out be some kind stranger watching over us all). "You don't want to get eaten do you?" she asked kindly then pointed towards one end of this X shaped wall saying "This is how you get inside." Then she smiled politely at us all before continuing "Inside is where you find your destiny." Just then those two glowing hands began pointing away from each other directly towards either end of this weird wall before merging once more together creating darkness once more which swallowed everything surrounding us including myself until eventually only darkness surrounded us everywhere causing everyone present including myself (even you dear reader!) to feel scared for our lives because we weren't sure if anyone could survive in such darkness except maybe maybe maybe....maybe someone especially strong might be able [to] survive....maybe?
