Tezrein's Quest to Defeat the Ancient Evil.
·
Published 3/15/2023Desperate to save a magical kingdom from evil, orphan Tezrein surprisingly sets himself on a quest to gain magical powers, unleashing unknown courage and surprising allies to defeat unimaginable odds - proving that anyone can be a hero.
The Kingdom was on the brink of destruction. The people were running; the battle had gone on for far too long and they were losing. The evil had taken over the kingdom and now it's reach was everywhere. The castle was surrounded, no one was safe.
The King, who was a kind and gentle man, fought alongside his men but he wasn't ready to accept defeat yet. He searched high and low for any possible way to save his beautiful daughter, Princess Ginevra. He loved her more than anything and refused to lose her to this evil curse that had corrupted his land and his people. He knew all hope was lost but he couldn't give up.
"I'm sorry my dear," said the king as he entered the princess' room. She was sitting on her bed, deep in thought and staring at her necklace which seemed to be glowing in a strange way. She turned around to face her father, who looked tired and worn out from the fight he would never win alone. "It is time to go."
"But Father! I don't want to leave!" she cried out as she stood up from her bed and ran towards him. He embraced her with both arms and held her close while she wept into his chest. "Please don't make me leave you! I can beat this evil! I know I can!" the princess cried out as she pulled away from her father, looking him directly in the eyes with a fierce determination in hers.
"You have so much power within you Ginevra but you must learn how to use it before you can defeat it," said the king as he gently wiped away some of his daughter's tears with his handkerchief. "I'm sending you somewhere where you will be safe until then."
"Where? Where are you sending me?" asked Ginevra with worry in her voice, not wanting to be separated from her father again after all they've been through together.
"You are going to stay with an old friend of mine who has lived here in the woods for years now," replied the king as he took hold of Ginevra's hand and led her towards their horses that were waiting outside by their stables; two white horses, one black horse and a brown goat who all seemed just as anxious as Ginevra about leaving their home but understood that there was no other way to keep them all alive. "He is an old knight named Sir Hainard who served alongside my father when they were younger."
Ginevra looked at Sir Hainard with curiosity when she saw him getting onto his brown horse Gestil; he appeared much older than she had imagined him to be but it didn't change how handsome he looked upon first glance. Despite this, Sir Hainard simply nodded at Ginevra in acknowledgement; he seemed like a very serious sort of person so she didn't want to waste any time trying to strike up a conversation with him while they rode off into the woods together as a large group of soldiers followed behind them, protecting their King and Princess with their lives as they galloped off into future unknowns...

The days passed by slowly for Ginevra once they arrived at Sir Hainard's house in the forest; she had expected it to be much bigger since it housed not only him but also a few animals that required shelter during these harsh times that they lived in such as goats, chickens, ducks and even three dogs that barked at strangers whenever they approached Sir Hainard's home despite being told countless times not to do so by their master many years ago...
Ginevra's first few weeks living there were filled with lessons on how to properly use magic; Sir Hainard taught her everything about life from dog training to animal care, taking care of herself both physically & mentally along with basic fighting skills so that if she ever needed to defend herself against someone or something threatening then she would know exactly what she needs to do...
She could feel herself growing stronger each day thanks to Sir Hainard's training methods; although most of them weren't conventional at all...
"So how did it go today?" asked Sir Hainard one night after dinner while they sat together by their fire pit watching the stars light up the sky above them without any clouds blocking out their view tonight... "Did you manage to summon your powers?"
