I tried to keep my eyes down, but I couldn't help but sneak a peek at the man sitting across from me. He was so sexy it took all my willpower not to stare at him.

He was tall, probably 6'3", and wide shoulders with long arms covered in tattoos. His face had a strong jawline and high cheekbones with a killer smile that made my knees weak.

His hair was brown, long and messy but somehow he kept it looking cute instead of wild. He wore a worn pair of jeans with holes in them and the frayed edges were dirty from what I assumed were days of travel on the road. I could see his khaki green shirt under his blue jacket.

I tried to look away again, but I couldn't help myself.

A rough looking man sat across from us at the bar. His greasy hair hung down over his face in wiry strands as he stared at us with dark beady eyes. His right hand was wrapped in bandages, stained red with blood leaking through the wrapping. He nursed his drink slowly as we waited for our food to arrive.

"So why are you here?" the handsome stranger asked me, his voice smooth like honey sliding down your throat on a hot summer day.

"Oh... um... well..." I stammered not knowing how to answer him without sounding like an idiot. "I'm researching local legends for my thesis."

"Ghost stories?" he asked still smiling at me like he knew something about me that I didn't know. "I don't believe in ghosts."

"No," I said shaking my head, "more like lost treasures or unexplained mysteries of this area."

"Like treasure?" he asked with an eyebrow raised as his smile stretched wider on his face. "I love treasure."

I smiled back at him, unable to stop myself as butterflies fluttered inside my stomach. "I can get you some maps if you want."

The bartender dropped off our food and gave us a dirty look when we continued talking instead of eating our sandwiches. The greasy haired man slurped down the last of his beer and slammed it on the bar before getting up and leaving without paying for it. The bartender rolled her eyes and went back to cleaning glasses behind the bar after having a hushed conversation with our server who then went outside to talk to the man leaving us alone again with our food.
