"My parents left me when I was 3 years old. They gave me to an orphanage in the middle of nowhere."

"Oh, that's awful! Why would they do that?"

"I don't know. Maybe it was because I was born with a birthmark on my face."

"Really?"

"Yeah, it was shaped like a moon."

"That's so strange! My name is Maria too!"

"What?"

"My name is Maria. That's what I've always been told. Never knew my parents either."

"Oh my god! It has to be fate! We're meant to be friends!"

Maria and Patricia went around town together for a few days before Patricia had to return to her home planet. Maria spent every day at her new friend's house, learning about life on their planet, Earth. Patricia and her family were kind enough to let Maria stay with them until she found a job and could move out somewhere. For the first time since she was 3 years old, Maria felt happy and wanted, even though she didn't have any friends on this new planet she'd landed on. She tried her hardest to learn as much as she could about Earth in the time she had, but there were still so many things she didn't know or understand. Eventually, it all started making sense when she learned how life worked here. She even acquired a small taste for chocolate and strawberry ice cream.

A couple months passed before Maria started working at a small convenience store called "Mario's". Her boss seemed nice enough, but he always called her by the wrong name; he called her "Marina". After work one day, Maria asked him why he kept calling her Marina when her name was Maria. He replied by saying that Mario's just had that policy for all of their employees for whatever reason. Every time he said it, he kept smiling at her in a very odd way. It made her feel uncomfortable every time he did that. She still liked it better than where she lived before, though; at least here the moon shaped birthmark on her face wasn't considered weird or something shameful like back home with the other half-moon dwellers. It took some getting used to when everyone kept staring at it and calling her "the girl with the star shaped birthmark", but eventually it stopped bothering her like it used to. She loved living on Earth more than anything else right now; she even got along nicely with Patricia's family now that they didn't judge her for being half-moon dweller like they used to at first. The only thing she wished was that Patricia could visit more often since they never got to see each other again after that first week when they met each other. There wasn't any real point in visiting from another planet anyway; the stars didn't even look different here because Earth is so close to its sun compared to where Patricia lived in space - Moon Dunes - which is about as far away from its sun as you can get without freezing solid or burning up first depending on the season...or something like that anyway (she doesn't really know). But despite not seeing each other as often as either of them would've liked, they kept in touch over the phone pretty regularly and talked about everything from their love lives to what people back home thought of Earthlings and humans nowadays (they both agreed that they were very judgmental towards humans). However, although she enjoyed living here very much despite all of this, there were still times when she couldn't help but miss things back home; especially since nobody else here seemed to understand how long ago life existed on Earth (and how different it was) compared to how long Moon Dunes has been around...not even Maria herself sometimes honestly - she just understood what people told her about it since nobody ever really explained how long ago things happened on Earth...at least not in terms of years anyway - just things like "before human life evolved", so who knows if people should've said something more specific instead? Regardless though, most of the people here had no idea about where humans came from besides their own planet - and even then many people made fun of them for being stupid enough to think that Earth was where humans actually came from (especially since most believed in the legend that humans were exiled from Moon Dunes after stealing wisdom from some sort of wise elders). In fact, most dismissed them as crazy lunatics who only believed in lies and tall tales invented by scientists hundreds and thousands of years ago because no one ever saw any evidence supporting anything about humans' origins back then either (human bones weren't unearthed until quite recently anyway). But regardless of whether or not anyone else believed them or not, there were still plenty of things people were learning about on Earth now thanks to those scientists' hard work over centuries: things like pollution problems caused by fossil fuels used in cars and heaters back then (which only recently caused lots of people around the world to start dying off due to their lungs turning black), and also lots of new technology advancements that could improve our lives back home too - things like computers and cell phones became extremely popular lately ever since some rich man named Bill Gates discovered them a couple decades ago (or so everyone thinks anyways). But regardless of how much technology advanced over the last century or two on Earth thanks to those scientists doing research there, there were still some things nobody knew about yet: dangerous creatures lurking under water seas across the world waiting for unsuspecting prey to stumble upon them while swimming or searching through sunken ships wreckage across all 7 oceans (people never really thought they existed until someone claimed they saw one while snorkeling recently), dangerous humanoid creatures with wings hiding deep underground cities across all 6 continents waiting for unsuspecting prey wandering into their territory hunting for treasure left behind by ancient civilizations hundreds or thousands of years ago (nobody ever thought such creatures existed until someone stumbled upon one accidentally deep underground while digging for gold), giant winged creatures swarming across vast skies above all parts of the world during nighttime hours hunting for young children playing outside after dark looking for stars twinkling brightly up above (people never thought such creatures existed until someone claimed one carried him/her away screaming while trying to save him/her from something nasty down below), giant humanoid creatures roaming across barren wastelands near deserts hunting for young boys traveling alone through deserts looking for water after running out of supplies within desert regions (nobody ever thought such creatures existed until someone found their remains scattered across desert regions far away from civilization due to mysterious disappearances many decades ago), colossal snakes slithering underground caverns beneath lakes searching for unsuspecting prey stumbling upon holes leading directly into underwater caverns beneath lakes while walking along top regions surrounding lakes (people never thought such creatures existed until someone claimed one tried pulling him/her down into an underwater caverns beneath lakes while walking along top regions surrounding lakes looking for witnesses after surviving an attack near shorelines where others drowned mysteriously without any warning beforehand), enormous monsters creeping across swamps searching out unsuspecting prey hunting blindly through thick foggy mists created by fog machines hidden underneath swamp waters high above swamp trees looking down below with eyes glowing red peering through thick mist below looking up towards unsuspecting prey walking above ground level at night time trying desperately find their way out before slipping into rivers full bodies submerged under thick mists looking down below misty waters hoping nobody notices them being swallowed whole by hungry monsters lurking nearby underneath swamp waters high above swamp trees hoping nobody notices monsters looming above ground levels stalking prey walking beneath swamp waters high above swamp trees hunting through thick foggy mists created by fog machines hidden underneath swamp waters high above swamp trees hoping nobody notices monsters lurking within thicke foggy mists peering down below misty waters looking up towards unsuspecting prey slowly sinking below murky waters...well no wonder so many people seemed scared nowadays considering all this superstitious nonsense everybody keeps believing today anyways without proof or evidence backing anything up whatsoever...it's no wonder why everyone went crazy believing so many ridiculous stories involving mythical beasts roaming around everywhere these days considering how unreliable all this information really is nowadays...but regardless...Maria still missed home sometimes too despite everything however bad it might've been back there because at least there weren't any real dangers lurking around everywhere like they are here...only dangerous myths surrounding superstitions propagated by ignorant masses convinced so many lies long ago without real proof backing anything up whatsoever...so who knows? Maybe monsters do exist after all? Who knows? Maybe I'm just as crazy as everyone else thinking nothing exists anymore beyond human beings ruling over everything these days? Only time will tell...someone always gets hurt eventually every time something goes bump in the night...no matter how strong we are...no matter how smart we are...no matter how much bigger we are than everything else out there? It doesn't matter what we do against nature itself: we'll always lose eventually against everything else no matter how strong we are once we die someday sooner or later having a natural life span eventually ending up at some point down the road sooner rather than later leaving everything else behind us forever once we're gone...? No matter how hard we try stopping ourselves from dying someday somehow? No matter how hard we try avoiding monsters lurking out there constantly watching us...? No matter how hard we try hiding our fears away constantly watching through windows waiting patiently outside our houses hoping we make mistakes spreading our legs wide open allowing serpents slithering inside bedrooms spreading legs apart allowing gigantic
