Dorina's Dangerous Independence

Dorina had been living a poor yet happy life in rural India. She had been living quietly with her family until one day her luck changed. Out visiting a nearby market, she encountered a dashing stranger named Mike. He was immediately enamored with her spirit and did not waste time declaring his love. Though Dorina had been hesitant to trust a stranger, she was inspired by his free-spirit and boldness and felt a sudden urge to join him.

The grateful Mike asked nothing of Dorina but love and trust, and could not believe his fortunes when she accepted his offer to join him on his journey.

At the outset of their journey, they laughed and teased one another and holding hands would skip from one village to another. They were in fact seemingly wrapped up in a cocoon of naïve trust with an undiscovered world of adventures awaiting them.

However, as the days progressed, their journey got more complex as it started taking them to more daring destinations. Along the way, Mike had stumbled across an old legend about a precious stone that was known to increase the strength and courage of the one who possesses it. He shared this story with Dorina, believing that he and Dorina would make the perfect duo who could quest on this journey together and held tight the cherished hope of finding the stone and proving that the two were courageous enough, even by the common Indian standards.

Now that Mike had a mission in his heart, the journey became full of ups and downs, hidden surprises and daring encounters, however, the duo also came across countless instances of betrayal along the way. No matter who it was, enemies and friends alike, Mike and Dorina were unwavering and held each other so dearly throughout, despite facing the risk of losing one another at any moment.

At last, the two reached their destination. They were both under the shadow of a large fort in the heart of Delhi and were trying to keep their presence hidden from the guards. As a tribute to the unparalleled trust between them, Mike placed Dorina's bare feet on his lap and said “Do you still want to cut them off, baby? If he did, she would be eager to offer them up. She knew it was his deepest fantasy and she would be selfish to keep her feet.” To this, Dorina replied, “More than anything,” before lifting one of her feet to Mike's lips, to which he responded with a kiss on her big toe. Then Mike asked if tonight would be the night they would fulfill their dreams and Dorina recalled his promise of courage and passion and nodded in agreement.

Using her wit and keen reconnaissance skills, Dorina quickly assessed the terrain and conjured up a strategy. She suggested that rather than blindly walking in, it would be better for them to take guard shifts so that they wouldn't face any surprise attacks. After taking shifts for the entire night, the pair boldly ventured on, with steel nerves and iron will, and seized the precious Stone of Strength and Courage. However, there was a dangerous twist -- Dorina only had a few minutes before the fort's security got alerted of her mission. Instantly recognizing the potential doom, Mike made a quick decision and pulled Dorina onto the horse and galloped off, risking his life and his beloved’s feet.

Eventually, Mike and Dorina made it back to their village, bringing along the precious Stone of Strength and Courage to uphold their courage and discover true fulfillment. That magical stone had made them a symbol of true loyalty regardless of their racial and gender differences within their society, and they became messages of hope to others who were facing injustice. Even as they rode into the sunset, Dorina could not help but smile as she kissed Mike’s hand which was still holding onto hers, beating with the faded memories of the love that kept their courage alive the entire journey.

While their fate held back no secret, the magical Stone of Strength and Courage had led the two closer to contentment— more than ever, Mike and Dorina’s courage bloomed like never before-- giving them the strength to finally build a future together in beautiful and harmonious peace.
