The Righteous Clown: A Balancing Act of Justice

The man who called himself Clown was a monster. He would have been one even if he had not been possessed by a demon. His soulless eyes were cold and dead, as though the light of humanity had gone out inside them. Garret had seen many things in his life, but the look in those eyes chilled him to the bone. People feared Clown; they avoided him and ran away, sensing something dark and dangerous about him.

Garret tried to handle him with care, but it was hard. He knew that Clown could be useful, but the truth was that he was a liability. This particular job was already challenging enough; taking down a group of violent thugs who were extorting money from an immigrant family working in a bakery a few blocks away from their home.

If Garret didn't use Clown this time, he may not get another chance. If he didn't make sure to stop these bastards now, more immigrants like them would be hurt or worse.

But he couldn't do it alone. The thugs had guns and knives. It would take all the strength of Clown's demonic powers to give Garret a chance at stopping them before they killed anyone. Not only that, there were families in the bakery too, besides the immigrants themselves. If Clown got out of control, they were all likely to get hurt too.

He looked over at Clown and caught his eye. Clown smiled at him and showed off his sharp teeth. Garret felt his stomach turn over again as he remembered how many times he'd seen those same teeth tear through flesh, ripping bodies apart like fragile paper dolls before feasting on their insides with ravenous delight.

"You're afraid." Clown said as he licked his lips with his long forked tongue. "You're afraid because you know I can kill them all without breaking a sweat." He laughed maniacally as Garret flinched at the thought of what he planned to do to those poor men if given the chance. "I know what you want." He continued calmly, suddenly looking more human than ever before as he held out his hand towards Garret with that same warm smile on his face that used to be so comforting back when they first met years ago.

"You're right." Garret said after swallowing hard and forcing himself to focus on the task at hand. "We need to do this job, or we won't get paid. Let's just focus on what we have to do here."

"Whatever you say, bossman!" Clown replied cheerfully before launching into action. They worked together, using their combined strength and frightening powers to take down the dangerous thugs, effectively ending the extortion scheme against the innocent bakery.

When it was all over, Garret collapsed onto a nearby bench, exhausted yet victorious. He knew that there would be other battles, other opportunities to rely on Clown and his dark presence. Their uneasy partnership, born out of necessity, would continue for now. With each passing day, Garret hoped that he could find a way to rid himself of Clown forever, but in the meantime, he would use the monster's abilities to help those who needed protection from the darkness that lurked in the city.
