"I am your god!"

Issa shook her head. "I've heard that one before."

The man's eyes flared as he lunged forward to strike her down. His attack was so sudden and unexpected, the guards didn't have time to react. Issa batted his sword aside with a deft swing of her own weapon, knocking him back. He landed on his feet and turned around, glaring at her with rage. "You won't be able to stop me this time!" he shouted.

"Oh, I doubt that," she said, smirking at him.

The man lunged forward again, swinging wildly. Issa dodged his frenzied blows with ease, spinning and ducking as she danced away from him. Her opponent seemed oblivious to the fact that every single one of his attacks were being expertly parried by the slender redhead. His ax whistled through the air as he swung it high over his head in an attempt to slice her head off. Issa parried the blow with ease before lunging forward, driving her dagger into his chest with a sickening thud. The man fell back, eyes wide in shock and pain as he clutched at the wound. Blood seeped out between his fingers as he looked down at the injury in his chest and then towards Issa who had taken several steps away from him, wiping blood off of her dagger on the sleeve of her tunic.

"What... what are you?" he gasped as his life quickly slipped away from him. "You're not human..."

Issa smiled sweetly before replying, "And yet here you stand dying before me."

The man stared at her for a moment longer before slowly dropping to his knees and collapsing onto the ground where he lay still and dead, while blood pooled around him like a crimson tide. The crowd roared its approval while Issa bowed low to them, giving them a little wave as she stood up straight once more and turned towards Prince Foledar. He clapped along with the crowd while looking very pleased with himself for hiring such an exceptional champion to protect him during his royal procession through the city streets. He approached Issa who smiled at him brightly before bowing low to him as well, keeping her face hidden behind her long red hair just in case anyone recognized her and started asking questions they shouldn't be asking about how she managed to defeat a man whose skill with a sword was unmatched in all of Qadir during their first official appearance together as bodyguard and employer outside of their private training grounds where they had met one another less than two months ago.

"Thank you so much for saving my life today," Prince Foledar said breathlessly after he had finished congratulating both Issa and himself on their successful royal procession through the city without incident, despite there having been plenty of threats against him over the past few weeks since he had taken power from King Ritalis; who was now enjoying a restful retirement after being poisoned in a way that went undetected due to his early onset dementia which allowed the poisoner to get away with it. It had taken several days for people to notice something was wrong because King Ritalis had always done strange things throughout his entire reign, but mainly when nobody was looking, so most people had simply chalked it up to eccentricity instead of wondering why someone would suddenly start thinking iced tea tasted better than hot tea or why someone would start forgetting how old they were when they were twenty-six years old instead of fifty-six years old like everyone else did.

Most people were probably too busy celebrating Prince Foledar's rise to power that they didn't even notice that one of King Ritalis' former bodyguards was now acting as Prince Foledar's personal bodyguard instead of someone else doing it. Regardless of their physical appearance, nobody seemed to be questioning the matter since Issa was highly skilled in her position. However, some individuals speculated about Prince Foledar's possible hidden ulterior motives or character flaws solely based on his close relationship with Issa. Such theories included suggestions of evilness, insanity, or plotting world domination, but people often dismissed these conjectures due to his handsome appearance and confident demeanor.

As the onlookers continued to express their admiration for Prince Foledar and Issa, it was clear that many questions remained unanswered. It would be interesting to see how the perceptions and opinions of the royal duo would shift if people became more inquisitive about the strange circumstances leading up to their partnership. But for now, the identity of Issa's employer and her reasons for working for him remained a mystery only known by the two of them. In this world filled with secrets, one could only wonder what shocking truths might eventually come to light in the future.

Despite the exhilarating victory in front of the crowd, Issa couldn't shake the gnawing feeling of uncertainty that lingered within her. The encounter with the man she had just killed left her with more questions than answers. His dying words echoed in her mind, "You're not human."

What did he mean by that? Was it an insult thrown out of desperation? Or could there be some truth to his words? It wasn't the first time Issa had heard such claims. Throughout her life, she had been labeled as different, mysterious, even otherworldly. Her exceptional skills in combat, her sharp reflexes, and her uncanny ability to anticipate her opponents' moves had always set her apart.

Prince Foledar, sensing the shift in Issa's demeanor, approached her with a concerned expression. "Are you alright, Issa?" he asked, his voice laced with genuine worry.

Issa forced a smile. "I'm fine, my prince. Just a momentary lapse. Killing can sometimes leave a mark on the soul."

Prince Foledar nodded understandingly, though the look in his eyes revealed that he wasn't entirely convinced by her answer. "Well, know that I am eternally grateful for your courage and skill. Without you by my side, I fear what might have happened today."

Issa's heart swelled with gratitude for his trust and appreciation. "It is my duty and honor to protect you, my prince. You need not worry about anything as long as I am here."

As the prince addressed the crowd, thanking them for their support, Issa couldn't help but glance at the lifeless body of the man she had slain. A sudden thought struck her like a bolt of lightning. What if he hadn't been lying? What if there was some truth to his claim that she was not fully human?

Lost in her troubling thoughts, Issa's attention was drawn to a hushed conversation among a group of cloaked figures at the back of the crowd. It was unusual to witness such secret exchanges during a celebratory event. With a sense of curiosity and suspicion, she discreetly made her way closer to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"You were right," whispered a figure with a low, raspy voice. "The signs are unmistakable. She possesses the ancient bloodline."

"It doesn't matter," replied another figure, this one with a feminine tone. "She's proven her loyalty to Prince Foledar. We can use her as a pawn in our plan."

Issa's heart raced as she struggled to make sense of their words. Ancient bloodline? A pawn in their plan? What did they mean? Who were these cloaked figures?

Before she could gather more information, the group dispersed, blending into the excited crowd. Issa knew she needed to find answers. She had been living her life on the outskirts of society, avoiding attachment and keeping her true nature hidden. But now, it seemed, her past was catching up with her.

"What's troubling you, Issa?" Prince Foledar's voice jolted her out of her thoughts once again. She realized she had been standing there, lost in her own world, for far too long.

"Forgive me, my prince," she said, her voice betraying a fraction of her confusion. "I believe there may be more to my past than I had previously thought. I overheard a conversation just now, and they mentioned something about an ancient bloodline."

Prince Foledar's eyes widened with surprise. "An ancient bloodline? That's... intriguing. We must unravel this mystery, Issa. We need to discover the truth about who you really are."

Issa felt a mixture of fear and anticipation surge through her veins. It was time to face the shadows of her past, to uncover the secrets that had been buried deep within her. With the prince's support, she knew they would discover the truth and perhaps change the course of their destinies forever.

Underneath the jubilant celebration and the adoring gazes of the crowd, an intricate web was being woven. Vague prophecies and hidden agendas would intertwine with Issa's quest for self-discovery, leading her on a perilous journey that would test her loyalty, reveal her true nature, and challenge everything she thought she knew about herself.

Little did she know that the ancient bloodline she carried within her held the power to change the fate of the entire kingdom. As the first thread of the web unraveled, Issa took her first step towards a destiny she never could have imagined, one that would shape not just her own future, but the future of Qadir itself.

And so, armed with determination and a burning curiosity, Issa embarked on a journey that would take her to forbidden places, introduce her to enigmatic allies and formidable enemies, and force her to confront the darkness that lay within her own heart. The path ahead might be treacherous, but she knew deep in her soul that it was a journey she was destined to take.

And with each passing step, the truth of her existence would be unveiled, and the secrets of the ancient bloodline would finally see the light of day.
