The man had gone through the security check and was moments away from entering the facility when the emergency sirens blared. He frowned and looked around, finally directing his attention to the security officer who was now directly in front of him.

"Sir, please remain calm. The emergency is not in your immediate vicinity."

The man's eyes went wide, and he took a step back. "What? Then why did you just interrupt my journey? You made me miss my flight!"

"Sir, I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you, but there are special circumstances that are beyond our control." The officer motioned to a woman who was approaching them at a brisk walk. "Please allow me to introduce Ms. Elizabeth Ames, the chief executive officer of the Nodah Group." As he said this, he gestured to himself. "I am Agent John Kirksen, of course."

The man stuck out a hand and introduced himself as well, "Ned Giroux," he said with a sigh. "This better be important." The woman shook hands with him and motioned for her employee to show Ned into an office where she could talk to him personally. She walked briskly behind him and closed the door before seating herself at one end of the table and preparing to explain things as calmly as possible.

"Mr. Giroux," she began, her voice strained with worry and frustration. "I'm afraid I have some very... concerning news to share with you." She hesitated for a moment as if considering how much she should reveal to him right now. Despite his unease about being interrupted mid-flight, Ned felt himself growing impatient with her preamble and cut her off mid-sentence.

"Just spit it out already! No one wants to hear all that flowery stuff."

The woman sighed deeply and nodded before continuing on as best she could under the circumstances. "Alright then... A few moments ago we picked up signs of unauthorized access within our mainframe data storage area-" The alarms cut her short again as another intruder was detected nearby. The woman stood up abruptly and rushed over to the door where she spoke into an intercom inside it. "Heads up everyone! We're about to have company!" She turned back towards Ned and pointed at the floor beneath them where a trap door had dropped open in response to her command via remote controls from a different part of the building altogether. "Get down there! Right now!" Giroux needed no further prodding; he immediately stumbled over and dropped down into the crawlspace below while the woman raced across in front of him where she opened up another hatch on the other side of the room which led into an entirely separate section of the facility which would hopefully delay his pursuers long enough for him to get out safely and inform his superiors about what had just happened here today.
