Published 7/8/2023In a distant world ruled by a superhuman king, an extraordinary team of warriors must rise against the sinister forces of the Gray Radiance to save their ancient city, but as chaos ensues, they discover that the biggest threat may lie within themselves. Can they overcome their own weaknesses and harness their remarkable powers to restore peace, or will their inner battles be the ultimate downfall of their mission?

"I'm telling you, we need to take the city now!" shouted Captain Gart.
"Now? What, right now?" asked Kikon, sweat dripping off his bald head. "The sun is on the other side of the globe! We should rest and prepare for a full day's assault."
"As much as I agree with you, our men are exhausted. They need to sleep," said Requad. "We should wait until morning at least. Then we can regroup."
Gart pouted, obviously frustrated by their cautious approach. "Fine. But if that old man gets away again--"
"We will be ready," Kikon said, cutting him off. "But it would help if we could get some supplies from the city tomorrow." He pointed towards a tiny shack on the outskirts of town. "Ever since that hag got here, things have been nonstop fighting with scarce food and water."
Requad nodded in agreement, wiping his sweaty forehead dry with his sleeve. "Where did she even come from anyway?" he asked. "She just appeared out of nowhere one night and started killing people left and right."
"I don't know," Kikon said, shrugging his shoulders. "But when she showed up we were already deep in battle with Gray Radiance scum." He rested a hand on his wooden staff and continued thoughtfully: "I wish I could remember more about what happened back then..."
A loud noise behind them caused them to turn around and look at each other nervously before they realized it was only Black Dragon returning from the front lines with a sack of loot over his shoulder. His face was covered in soot and blood, but it was obvious that he had been greatly enjoying himself as he marched into town triumphantly waving an enemy soldier's severed arm above his head like a war trophy.
"Did you see what I did out there?!" shouted Black Dragon proudly before noticing the looks on Requad and Kikon's faces. He stopped suddenly in his tracks and lowered his prized possession shamefully. "What? Did I do something wrong?"
Requad shook his head and took a step closer to Black Dragon, his voice filled with both concern and admiration. "No, you didn't do anything wrong. It's just...we were discussing our next move. Captain Gart wants to take the city now, but we feel it might be best to wait until morning."
Black Dragon smirked, tossing the severed arm aside. "Well, if it were up to me, I'd storm the city right this second. But I understand the need to rest." He glanced toward the distant silhouette of the city, his eyes burning with determination. "Besides, it'll give me time to clean up this mess," he said, motioning to his bloodied self.
Kikon nodded, his gaze shifting from Black Dragon to the shack on the outskirts of town. "We'll have to gather supplies tomorrow morning. With the hag wreaking havoc and the Gray Radiance on our doorstep, it's become a daily struggle just to survive."
The memory of the hag's piercing laughter echoed in their minds, tightening the grip of fear around their hearts. Even the bravest of soldiers quivered in her terrifying presence. The hag held an aura of darkness that consumed the very essence of hope.
"We need a plan," Captain Gart interjected, joining the conversation. "We'll attack at dawn, but we have to be prepared for her. Requad, you're the fastest runner. I want you to go to the neighboring village and seek assistance. We can't face her alone."
Requad swallowed hard, his gaze shifting uneasily from his companions to the city's towering walls. "Assistance? From the villagers? Are you certain they will help us?"
A solemn expression settled upon Captain Gart's face. "We have to try, Requad. It's clear that we are outmatched by the hag's power. The villagers hold ancient knowledge, secrets that may aid us in this battle. We need their scrolls, their talismans, anything that can help break her curse."
The mention of the villagers intrigued Kikon, his fingers drumming nervously against his staff. "I've heard whispers," he said slowly, "stories of an ancient relic hidden deep within the villagers' sacred temple. They said it has the power to neutralize the hag's malevolence."
Eyes widening with newfound hope, Requad stepped forward. "Then it's settled. I will go to the neighboring village and plead our case. If the stories are true, we'll have a chance to defeat the hag once and for all."
As dawn approached, the three remaining soldiers made their final preparations. Captain Gart devised a strategy, mapping out each step of their assault on the city, while Kikon tended to the wounded and weary, comforting them with words of reassurance. Black Dragon took it upon himself to arm the soldiers, ensuring they had the sharpest swords and strongest shields.
Requad set off on his journey, his mind consumed by thoughts of the villagers and the relic that could turn the tides in their favor. He ran through dense forests and crossed treacherous rivers until he reached the outskirts of the neighboring village.
Eager to find assistance, Requad pushed open the creaking gates of the village. The air was thick with anticipation as he made his way toward the sacred temple. Villagers huddled together, their eyes filled with both curiosity and fear.
At the steps of the temple, Requad was greeted by an elderly man with a long, flowing beard. His eyes shimmered with ancient wisdom as he studied the soldier before him. "What brings you to our village, young warrior?" he asked, his voice carrying the weight of centuries.
Requad took a deep breath, his resolve firm. "We are facing a great evil, a hag with a power beyond our comprehension. We have heard whispers of an ancient relic hidden within your sacred temple that could help us."
A flicker of recognition passed through the old man's eyes, and he nodded slowly. "You speak of the Orbs of Enchantment," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "Legends say they hold the power to banish the darkness that plagues your lands."
Requad's heart soared with hope. "Please, you must allow us to use the Orbs of Enchantment. Our city is under siege, and if we do not secure victory, darkness will consume us all."
The old man stared at Requad for a moment, his gaze filled with contemplation. "The path to the Orbs is treacherous, young warrior," he warned. "But I sense the bravery and desperation within you. I shall grant you access to their sacred chambers."
As the old man led Requad deeper into the temple, the soldier's anticipation grew. The weight of their mission pressed upon his shoulders, but he knew that the fate of their city rested upon his success.
Unbeknownst to Requad, the hag, sensing the growing threat against her, had ventured out of the city walls. Her dark magic crackled through the air, her intent to crush any resistance that dared to challenge her reign.
The battle for the city was approaching its climax, with Captain Gart and Kikon readying their soldiers for the assault. The stage was set, and the fate of their world teetered on a knife's edge.
Little did they know that within the sacred temple, Requad was about to unleash a power that would change the course of their war. The Orbs of Enchantment awaited, their ancient magic ready to be wielded against the hag's darkness and bring everlasting light to their besieged city.
