Grofina and Ricardo's Wild Adventure
·
Published 4/9/2023In an ancient Brazil, two fiercely bold and uniquely courageous allies, Grofina and Ricardo, set off on a seemingly impossible mission, armed only with their wit and an unexpected fashion choice for the Stone Age - swimming suits.
There was nothing like the sound of a toddler screaming.
Grofina tugged at her ridiculous swimming suit and looked around. Her eyes had adjusted to the darkness of the cave, but she could still make out the massive shadow of Ricardo's spear as it swayed back and forth. At least he seemed to have his shit together.
A small rock hit Grofina in the forehead. The flint knife slipped from her fingers and fell onto the ground, skittering away from her. There was no point in being quiet now.
"Ricardo!" she whispered loudly, waving her arms in an attempt to catch his attention. He turned around and looked at her, then pointed towards himself, as if asking who she was talking to. Grofina sighed and shook her head. "No, you idiot! Me!" She pointed at herself this time and made 'talking' noises that were supposed to be words she was saying. After a few moments of this, his face lit up with understanding, or so she thought, until he picked up a nearby stick and poked himself in the chest several times while making loud grunting sounds. "Stop it," Grofina said sternly as she clapped her hands over her ears while staring at him sternly. "I'm not going to eat you." She waited for him to stop before continuing. "Now listen, I dropped my flint knife down there somewhere." Then she pointed towards the ground where it had fallen when that ill-mannered toddler had thrown a rock at her head. "Can you go get it for me?"
Ricardo took off his net from around his shoulders and threw it over his head like a shawl before taking off in a mad sprint towards where the knife lay on the damp floor of the cave. He reached down and grabbed hold of it before spinning around and throwing it back towards Grofina as he ran past her. Grofina caught it behind her back as he continued running deeper into the caverns on some sort of quest for glory or perhaps another unknown objective; it was hard to tell what went through that strange man's mind.
Not too long later, Ricardo came running back out of one of the tunnels with a huge grin on his face and an even larger rodent in his hand. "Have you ever seen anything like this?! You can't see its tail but look at how big its head is!" he exclaimed joyfully as he showed off his kill to Grofina, who nodded politely without saying anything back to him. To be honest, she didn't care about the kind of bizarre rat he had killed with his impressive spear; they were going to be eaten by human children anyway, so they could have been massive rabbits for all she cared. "Well, alright then," Ricardo said before turning around and heading back inside, stuffing the dead animal into his net, which had magically reappeared around his neck. He stopped walking once he had entered far enough that Grofina couldn't hear him anymore before calling out to someone further inside the cave: "Aldo! Aldo! Come here! You have got to see this weird rat I killed with my spear thingy!"
*Aldo?* thought Grofina as she watched Ricardo march happily further into the cave with only a tiny torch lighting his way. *Oh well, I guess I'll just wait here until Aldo shows up.* And so, she waited patiently while trying not to think about that impolite toddler who threw rocks at people's heads. She couldn't believe any parent would let their child do something like that, but then again, these events supposedly took place in ancient Brazil thousands of years ago, so who knows what kind of peculiar things children used to do.
Twenty minutes later, Ricardo emerged from one of the side tunnels holding what looked like a baby goat in his hands while calling out excitedly: "Guess what, Aldo? I didn't even need my spear thingy this time because this baby goat just walked right up to me on its own accord!" Aldo rushed over to join Ricardo, and together they admired their new pet before Ricardo handed Aldo the baby goat, which seemed rather pleased with its new owner. Immediately after doing so, it started licking Aldo's face in an effort to show affection or perhaps even love.
As Aldo played with the baby goat by running around excitedly while hugging it tightly against his chest, the animal licked his face in joyous excitement. Ricardo suddenly remembered something important. "Hey Grofina!" he called out into the darkness where she was waiting patiently for them. "Do you think we could keep this baby goat?" He pondered how much fun it would be if they could bring home a live animal instead of just all those dead ones lying around everywhere. While those deceased creatures would probably taste better than living animals, catching them alive would definitely be more engaging. "Sure
