The Quest for the Magical Gem

It was a dark and stormy night when Zombi and Joel ran into the village.

"I can't believe it! We're finally here! I wonder if they have three beds? Do you think we'll get the bed that's made of sticks?" Zombi exclaimed.

Joel looked up at the roof, "Well, it looks like it's made of sticks. That's good enough for me. Let us go to the Inn!"

They entered the Inn and saw a man with a beard and a red robe sitting in front of a desk. He looked over his spectacles as they walked in, "Can I help you young men?"

Zombi responded, "Yes, we are looking for a room for tonight. Do you have any that are made of sticks?"

The man laughed and replied, "Hahaha! You don't say? Well, yes, I do have one room that is made of sticks." He got up from his chair and led them to the stairs. As they passed by the bar, Joel leaned over to take a quick peek at the beer taps when suddenly he heard a voice call out his name. He looked over his shoulder, then back at Zombi who had already started climbing the stairs. The man stopped to wait for him at the top of the stairs; Joel said quietly to himself as he began to climb after him, "What did he call me?" Joel reached the top of the stairs and noticed that Zombi was already opening up one of the doors on their left side of the hallway before he caught up with them. There were only two rooms on that side of hall; one was marked with an X on the door while the other had an O on it.  The man went into room with an X on it and asked them to step inside as well. After closing the door behind them, he told them that this was their room as he opened up one of their suitcases and took out two hand-made pillows which he placed on each bed before heading out into hallway once again.  Joel turned to Zombi in confusion as he asked him what was going on. Zombi responded enthusiastically saying that this must be some sort of joke or puzzle because there were only two beds in their room yet there were three people staying here. They both looked out through one of their windows and could see that there was another window across from theirs which had an O written across it in bold green letters while their window had an X written above it in red letters just as big.  Joel thought aloud that this must mean something but neither one knew what exactly yet they agreed that they had better figure it out soon because they were very tired from all their traveling from yesterday afternoon until today morning. They both changed into their pajamas and fell asleep quickly after turning off their lights without solving any puzzles about why there were three people staying in a room with only two beds though Joel did wake up once during his sleep because he convinced himself that one of those beds wasn't made of sticks so therefore someone was missing somewhere else in his dream. He woke up again later in his dreams after hearing shouts coming from outside their window telling him and Zombi to wake up immediately because someone was trying to break into their room dressed as a thief so they opened up their window and threw rocks at him telling him not to steal anything no matter how valuable or rare it may be because even though they had traveled far together on this journey towards finding this gem; they weren't going to let anyone steal away their friendship which meant everything to them even more than any treasure. When Joel woke up this time around though; he sat upright in bed with excitement because now he knew why there were three people staying in a room with two beds! It was a simple answer really; one person would be sleeping outside in the tree house below theirs! It all made sense now except for who would sleep outside in such bad weather?  He decided not to worry about who would sleep outside for now but instead he figured that since there was nobody else inside besides himself and Zombi then this must mean that there wasn't anyone else who lived here either which meant that *they* could live here full time! They could live here free from all responsibilities until they found that magical gem which would give them ultimate power over everyone else around them unless someone even more powerful came along first but until then; these two boys would find themselves living happily ever after all by themselves!
