A Moment of Passion and Pursuit.

I was walking through the park on my way home, enjoying the cool spring air. The sun had already set and there wasn't a soul in sight.

I started to hum a tune that I'd been listening to earlier in the day, when a man's voice suddenly joined in. He was singing with me! I turned around, embarrassed that someone had heard me singing aloud, but I couldn't see anyone. Confused, I walked a little further down the path.

"That was lovely," said a voice as I again passed by him. "I love that song." It sounded like he was right behind me, so I turned around once more, but still couldn't see anyone. "Who is singing?" I wondered out loud. Once again, just as before, his voice responded right behind me. "Me," he said with a smile.

I spun around to look at him, and found a handsome young man sitting on the bench beside me. He raised his brows and gave me a sly smile before saying "Aren't you going to say hello?" I smiled back at him and replied, "Yes of course." He looked so charming sitting there with his blue eyes twinkling as he smiled at me.

We stood up from the bench and began to walk alongside each other down the path. We talked about all kinds of things; our favorite books, movies and music but not once did either of us mention our names. We both felt like we knew each other though we were strangers to one another.

We were walking along when suddenly Tom paused and muttered something under his breath. His face flushed slightly and he began to stutter something unintelligible to me before asking if there was somewhere we could go where we could talk privately for a bit longer.

"I know just the place," I replied with a coy smile before taking his hand in mine and leading him away from the main path into the trees surrounding it. We walked for only a few minutes before we came upon an old wooden bench up against an immense oak tree that looked as though it might have survived from ancient times long forgotten by most people living today. It seemed as though time had stopped here and we were now living in our own world far removed from the rest of civilization.

Tom sat down on one end of the bench while I sat down next to him on the other side so that we faced each other across its length. He took my hands in his and sighed heavily as he told me just how much my voice affected him as we were talking earlier on the path. He said that he's never met someone who made him feel so alive inside while they were speaking with him like this before, even after all these years of being alone in this world without any family or friends to speak of anymore. He wanted nothing more than to kiss me right then and there but he held himself back afraid to ruin whatever it was between us by doing something so rashly impulsive, but he felt like he couldn't hold himself back any longer anymore so he leaned in close until his lips were almost touching mine . . . . . . . . . . . . . except that we weren't alone after all because there was another man standing behind us watching intently as Tom kissed me deeply!
