Paladin Warriors: A Middle Renaissance Journey of Followship and Courage
·
Published 3/5/2023Four daring, culturally diverse friends - Percy, Vianna, Thanh, and Leili - join forces with a mysterious wolf to battle an evil sorcerer and confront their dark pasts in a race against time to rescue Japan's Middle Renaissance kingdom from enslavement.
"O, how I hate the smell of incense!"
Percy glared at the small bowl which sat on his desk. The scent was nauseating. He let his eyes wander over to the books on the far side of his room. "Either I succumb to this hellish torture and burn my books, or I burn in Hell." He thought with a frown. He stood up and walked over to the bookshelf. His fingers ran down the spines of his precious books as he recalled fond memories of when he found each one; once again cursing that he had not already burned them.
He picked up his copy of the Ethics and cast it into the fire which burnt bright in his study. A thick layer of smoke filled the room as he took off his spectacles and sighed contentedly. The letters blurred into one another as they melted away, and Percy blinked rapidly to clear his vision. With a satisfied smile he turned back to his desk to find Vianna standing by it, watching him with a scowl on her face.
"How could you?" She said quietly, her words laced with venom. Percy stared dumbfounded at her for a moment before she continued in a more controlled voice, "This is all your fault." She gestured angrily at the smoke-filled room, "You've been reading those filthy books! You've corrupted Leili! I knew this would happen! You try so hard to be a good man but you're nothing but an evil sorcerer!"
"What?" Said Percy slowly, looking at her with confusion written all over his face, "Vianna...I don't understand what's going on here."
Vianna's eyes narrowed as she leaned in close to him, her voice now barely above a whisper as if afraid that there might be other people listening in on their conversation despite being alone in Percy's study. Suddenly she jerked away from him and ran towards the door out of Percy's study with tears streaming down her face. He heard her mutter something about giving Leili some tea before running out of sight.
