"Funciona Español?" Zalaya read the words out loud, his voice slightly trembling with uncertainty. Xoro's excitement momentarily paused as he turned to look at his brother, a puzzled expression on his face.

"What does that mean?" Xoro inquired.

"I'm not entirely sure," admitted Zalaya, "but I've heard tales about mysterious objects containing magical powers or even curses. It could be related to this treasure we've found."

Xoro frowned, annoyance seeping into his voice. "You think that little scrap of paper is going to put some kind of curse on us just because it was lying next to this chest? You're being foolish, Zalaya." He waved the gold coin he still held in his hand. "No curse can cloud the fact that we have the means to change our lives for the better now."

Zalaya glanced back at the piece of paper and then up at his brother, still unsure but not wanting to ruin his brother's happiness or waste any more time discussing bad omens. He would have to investigate the meaning of these words later, when they were away from the treasure.

"You're right, Xoro," he said with a forced smile. "We should hurry back and show Mother our find. She won't believe her eyes. This will certainly change everything for us."

Xoro grinned widely, his enthusiasm returning. "Let's go! Our days of hardship are over!" With great care, he closed the chest and locked it again, hoping to keep its contents safe until they could trade the gold for the goods they desperately needed.

As the two brothers loaded the chest onto their wagon and started their journey home, Zalaya couldn't shake his nagging suspicions about the cryptic message. Though he wanted nothing more than to revel in their newfound wealth alongside Xoro, he could not ignore the unease he felt deep within his core.
