Drawing Strength in the Moon's Shadow

Lola and Aurora were born in a time where the moon was known as the Promised Land: A paradise of wealth and splendor. When they were young, their father told them the old legends; how the Moon King was challenged by his son, Xolotl.

Xolotl was a vile creature, with a heart full of nothing but darkness. He wanted to take over the Moon Kingdom for himself, and so he began to lurk about the kingdom, spreading his foulness like cancer through its people. The Moon King tried to stop him, but Xolotl was too strong; he beat down the king's army, and destroyed all their magical weapons. He captured his father, and locked him away in a tower deep in the heart of the Moon Kingdom.

The Moon King knew that Xolotl's reign would be marked by sorrow and suffering, so he crafted a terrible curse that would destroy all life on the moon. There was only one person who could break it: His daughter Aurora - the last Princess of Luna.

So began the Legend Era: A time of great heroes and mages. Heroes such as Amaterasu, who defeated Xolotl's armies many times over; mages such as Yggdrasil, who built magnificent cities that floated in air; alchemists such as Victor Frankenstein, who created living beings out of scraps and spare parts; warriors such as Queen Elinor, who led her country against an army of monsters from beyond space and time... All these heroes came together at last to face Xolotl himself, to rescue their beloved king from his tower prison.

But even with all their might combined, they failed miserably against the dark lord. Many died without little more than a scratch on their bodies to show for it: They were killed by Xolotl's magic sword before they even had time to blink. And just when hope seemed lost… *sniff* *sniff*... A familiar sound echoed through the halls of the tower… *SNORT* *SNORT* *SNORT!* It was Lola! With her mighty trunk pointed right at Xolotl! He tried to run away from her mighty blast of flatulence, but it was too late: The elephant charged through his magic barrier like it wasn't even there! She trampled him into dust with her mighty feet; she blew away all traces of him until nothing remained. She saved her father, but at what cost?

The Moon Kingdom lay in ruins, its heroes dead or dying all around them. Their kingdom was no longer safe for them anymore; it was covered in blood and bones now that Xolotl was gone... So they fled to Earth - a place they could call home again now that danger had passed. They settled in South Africa's Kruger National Park; it had plenty of water and food for them to eat... But most importantly... It had NO MONSTERS EITHER!

But this peace did not last long... One day after breakfast... Father suddenly fell ill! He started coughing up blood! The doctors said he had only a few days left to live... The only thing that could save him now... Was THE CURSE OF LUNA!!
