The System saved my life.

It was an old, beaten up, piece of wood that looked a lot like a baseball bat. It even had the word "Babe Ruth" written along one side in big black letters.

I mean, it really did look like a bat. But it didn't weigh much at all. I held it with only one hand and I couldn't feel any taper to the grip, but when I swung it at the head of a goblin who was about to stab me in the neck with a wicked-looking spear, he went flying back five feet and flopped down on the ground.

The first time I hit him with The Babe Ruth bat, he just looked at me for a second and then burst into flame. He must have been on fire for ten or twenty seconds before he died screaming and rolling around on the ground. The second time I hit him, his head exploded like an overripe pumpkin. It was pretty gross. But I'm telling you The System saved my life!

The third time I hit an enemy with The Babe Ruth bat, he turned into dust. And then there was this little puff of purple smoke that floated away on the wind. That made me feel kinda sad so I stopped using The Babe Ruth bat after that if you don't mind me saying so.

The System gave me a lot of other things too - like magic wands that could shoot fireballs at people or ice shards that would freeze them solid or lightning bolts that would shock them until their insides were cooked as you might say - but I never liked to use those either because they seemed cruel somehow and besides, The Babe Ruth bat seemed to work better anyway especially against goblins, trolls or orcs which is what most of my enemies were mostly and let me tell you do not mess around with goblins, trolls or orcs trust me on this one or else The System will save your life but it might not be able to save your soul from having to carry around something heavy for the rest of eternity which is kind of ironic don't you think?
