The red soil of Mars was alive as ever this bright 17th-century day. But something in the air seemed different. Something new and exciting. Laux and Talinka, two girls from far different backgrounds, felt it in their bones, as if something momentous was coming. There was a flicker, a spark in the air, and to Laux and Talinka it was almost palpable.

Laux had grown up struggling. Her family, an immigrant clan from the far flung planet of Eyo, had been beaten down and forgotten in the confines of her dusty home upon Mars. But while her parents were adamant that they were still owed a chance, Laux channelled her energy in different directions--in guidance and care for her home, and in the burgeoning art of digital genius.

Talinka, in direct contrast to her chosen companion, comes to Mars from the royal court of Tarom, bearing gifts of knowledge and understanding, and quickly becomes an admiration for the aspiring young scholar. Her knowledge about the Digital Revolution is vast and encyclopedic, and soon enough Laux finds herself swept away in the dazzling stories and possibilities contained in the vastness of it all.

In the throes of their Digital Revolution education, the two best friends vow to devote their intellectual pursuits to the greater good of all on Mars, and collaborate to create a machine-ridden script that could spread their message of hope to other forgotten planets. What they don't expect, however, is the intensity of the resistance they will be faced with as they begin to spread their diaspora of hope.

As their challenges grow more and more complex, Laux and Talinka are faced with taxes imposed upon them by the most ruthless of Mars’ Imperial forces. Their tax collector, a violent and powerful woman, compares to no one and has no restraint, achieving through cruelty and implications what she wanted without fail. But the two have faced their challenges, the pair having learned to roll and roll with all of life’s punches.

The opposing forces threatening their endeavor grow in size and ferocity, causing Laux and Talinka seek out covert helpers and conspirators alike, who align themselves with their cause without revealing their true colors or true identities. In order to survive, the must become masters of physical strategy and technology. Neither will take a backseat to either, as keenly aware of their vulnerability both in terms of physical force, but also the vulnerabilities of the digital world— their Deutche schulen digitalisierung trump card.

After many dangerous plots, complex subterfuges, and miraculous escapes, the two make a break for higher grounds where they could calmly complete 11 their plans and plot the remaining course of action. Through slow-paced fight scenes, they are eventually able to veer away from entanglements of violence, sneaking on to a mysterious train headed away from the Resistance.

However, their battle is not over yet. Deep underneath their ultimate destination is an even more sinister epilogue waiting for them.

What started as a friendship quickly evolved into a commitment, one where each of them put their lives at certain danger for the realization of a better world for everyone. Finally, the two arrive on the precipice of a revelation, one that will have dire consequences if not stopped. With writing that is both spare and elegant, Laux and Talinka must confront a future fraught with danger and devastating violence, and ultimately must join forces to oppose an inescapable force they could never have foreseen. Amidst revolution, chaos, and gunfire, they risk it all to understand the implications of the Digital Revolution... and the violent costs that come with it.
