She walked in the night, her small steps echoing down the cobblestone alley. She held a lantern and the light shone yellow on her face. Her face was an angelic oval, but she had a boyish cut. With her hair tied back, her ears were visible and they were delicate and graceful. She wore a simple dress, white with blue flowers, that was elegant with its simplicity. The lantern illuminated her gauzy dress lightly and cast a soft glow around her body.

She reached the destination: a tall building surrounded by a high stone wall. A gate stood at the entryway and it was locked. She walked to it and pushed gently and then harder until she managed to shove it open. She climbed over the gate and walked into the courtyard of the building. It was dark here too but she knew where to go. She made her way to a door at one end of the courtyard and entered it. On the other side of the door was a stairwell that led her deep into the ground. A few turns later she emerged in a small hall where two guards waited for her arrival. They inspected her from head to toe before waving their hands in front of them to indicate that she could pass through.

She walked down another corridor until she reached another door which she opened slowly. As she stepped inside, Omar rose from his chair to greet her. He walked up to her with his arms stretched out so he could embrace her into his chest. He lifted her up high and squeezed as hard as he could against him, breathing in deeply as if taking in everything about her that he could smell or feel or hear or see all at once. "Dalia," he whispered into her ear and then let go of her to look at her eyes with his own dark ones, filled with love and desire mixed together perfectly like they always were when they saw each other again after days apart.

Omar led Dalia over to where he had been sitting which was a leather chair behind an imposing desk strewn with papers filled with numbers and figures that neither of them understood fully but which Omar insisted meant everything in this world while they both imagined something different entirely based on what they felt rather than what they knew from experience or learned from others or read in books. Omar sat down behind the desk and looked up at Dalia standing across from him who still carried the small candle light with her only source for light anywhere else being Omar's eyes looking up at hers looking down at him across this chasm between them that never seemed quite wide enough for either of them really no matter how much time passed between their meetings that always felt like minutes rather than hours or days or weeks or years even though they both knew well enough how long each meeting truly lasted without any clock ever ticking away the seconds or minutes or hours or days or weeks or years between them never stopping because neither of them wanted those seconds stopped no matter how much they changed while they were apart because each second counted toward their next meeting no matter how many times they met during those same seconds separating them apart filled those same seconds with meaning in itself because she welcomed every second as if it were only one second bringing them closer together when nothing else could ever do so for any length of time because Omar needed Dalia just as much as Dalia needed Omar every moment of every day whether they met or not when without him she would be alone forever lost without anyone who cared about anything except herself wanting control over everyone else rather than having someone strong enough who would hold her hand and lead her along wherever he went even if she didn't want to follow because he loved being there more than getting somewhere better whenever that might exist though every choice is easier when there is someone there holding your hand as you walk forward toward whatever new place your feet carry you toward together because their shared vision together is clearer than any path you can imagine alone wandering aimlessly in darkness hoping something better appears sooner rather than later where there is only risk instead of reward waiting for you always wondering if you will ever find your way back home again even though home is nowhere more than where you are right now standing next to someone you love deeply who loves you just as much making sure you're safe protected from danger by his presence standing beside you wherever you choose to go walking beside you always knowing where you want to go making sure you're happy no matter how far away that might be leading you along this path called life until you reach an end so perfect it seems impossible all without leaving his side supporting your every move leaning into your shoulder listening quietly almost wordlessly knowing what it feels like to stand beside someone special like yourself staring forward into some distant future where it seems like anything could happen all before seeing tomorrow roll around again because tomorrow might be too late not today not tomorrow not yesterday but right now making sure time passes slowly so time never seems short because someday has already passed letting all those moments pass by creating this present moment just for yourself wishing that every moment will last forever knowing nothing lasts forever
