Breaking the Bonds of Cult Authority

It was a crisp fall morning in the 1750’s when Amelia Wilson, a young woman of twenty-one, woke up to find herself in an unfamiliar place. As she ventured around, she discovered she was in a tall and imposing building with no way out. Eventually, Amelia found another person—Lucien Biber, the leader of a strange cult. He approached Amelia, explaining in a twistedly charming manner that he had been watching her for a long time, even sent messengers to her family—and he wished for her to come and “spread the light” with him. With no other option, Amelia agreed, becoming a captive within the cult. Little did Amelia know that this cult was one of the darkest and most powerful forces in the United States. Over time, Amelia was forced to take part in strange ceremonies, rituals, and secrets she couldn’t quite make sense of—but she kept her head held high despite her dire circumstances. Scrounging around the grounds, she soon realized that with each passing piece of information, Lucien’s grasp on the power of his mysterious cult grew tenfold. Finally, after enduring weeks of captivity, she decided she had had enough. It was time to break free, but Amelia was unsure of where to start. Her only source of hope was a mysterious cat she kept seeing around the grounds.

One evening, Amelia met the cat, who introduced himself as the Sage. He explained to Amelia how Lucien had traveled to a faraway land where a masterless patron had granted him supernatural powers—and later, a hideaway on the border of criminal's enclave where he could wreak havoc and make transformations even Amelia couldn’t comprehend. The Sage offered Amelia wisdom and solace in exchange for food and shelter. Amelia agreed, and from that point forward, the two were inseparable. With the Sage’s guidance, Amelia began unraveling the many clues and symbols that Lucien had woven around the grounds of his cult’s hideaway. With the newfound knowledge, she was soon able to connect the dots and unlock the mysteries of the strange powers at Lucien’s beck and call, thus granting her the opportunity to put an end to his diabolical ambitions. Amelia formulated a plan to soon be rid of Lucien, but time was her enemy. The more time Lucien spent in the cult’s refuge, the more powerful he and his following became, leaving Amelia with very few options and no time to spare.

During her mission, Lucien began to search the cult hideaway for Amelia to find her, as he knew of her intentions. She barely managed to elude him and his followers each time, yet the closer she got to the answer, the closer she came to danger. In a desperate attempt to remain hidden from her captor’s claws, Amelia enlisted the help of two of her fellow cult captives, both of which she had won over with her kind and generous spirit. Lucien, fed up with Amelia’s drawings closer and closer to uncovering his secret, took his ire out on the other captives. The plan worked and Amelia realized that if Lucien discovered her mission, he would men no mercy for them—he was determined to see her eliminated. Amelia now knew she had to tread carefully but swiftly in order to save them all from harm. After many dangerous and close calls, Amelia pieced together the puzzle and discovered that a severed connection was the key to bringing to ruin the oppressive power Lucien held over the cult & its captives.

With the help of the two captives, Amelia prepared for the ritual, little did she know that her work to that point had formed only the background of the real and dangerous finale of her escape. The only thing left was to execute the plan in one fell swoop. She had to wait until the right moment, and finally the fateful day came, under the fierce light of a full moon. Amelia, with the help of her trusty cat companion, worked quickly with the cult’s symbols to perfectly channel the energy of the ritual. She closed her eyes, summoned every last drop of strength she had within her, and finally succeeded in setting her—and her fellow captives—free. The ritual broke the triangulation of energy connecting Lucien to his hidden power, restoring peace and freedom to the captives. As the freedom of a new morning dawned, Amelia was the last to leave the cult, the two faithful captives walking happily by her side. Full of triumph, she never looked back.
