"You're a very attractive woman."

"Thank you, sir."

"Are you single?"

"I am. Yes."

"Do you have a boyfriend?"

"No, I don't. Not at the moment. You see, my ex-boyfriend kind of messed up our entire relationship. He made me feel like such a worthless piece of shit that I still can't get over it to this day. It's been almost two months since we broke up and I'm just not ready for another relationship yet."

"Oh... Well, that was pretty bad. Are you sure you want to stay in therapy?" asked the therapist.

The woman smiled. Her therapist was right; she had never given up so quickly on a relationship before. But her ex had really hurt her deep down inside. She loved him, but he always seemed to make fun of her when they were out with friends or whenever they went on a date together and she would embarrass herself because she was so shy towards other people. She didn't know why she felt so insecure, but she did and it made her hate herself way too much. Then one day he simply said he didn't feel the same anymore and left her standing there in the middle of the street with tears dripping from her face.

It had been a very difficult two months for her and she didn't think she could handle another failed relationship after what had happened with her ex-boyfriend. If only he hadn't made fun of her all the time! Why couldn't he be more supportive? She knew it wasn't his fault; he was just insecure about himself, about his manhood and his "abilities". She could tell because whenever she would bring up sex when they were alone, he always turned red from head to toe and looked away from her eyes with shame in his eyes. He never admitted it of course, but it was all too obvious that something was wrong with him. He would never touch her down there until they had been together for almost six months and even then he always made excuses as soon as things started getting hot and heavy between them. Sometimes he would even leave the room immediately after they kissed each other passionately and would go for a smoke outside or downstairs to the basement where nobody could hear him "relieve himself". He was just too scared to talk about it or maybe even too ashamed of what he had done that night or whatever excuse he came up with next time they were alone together again to be able to satisfy a woman like her who needed so much love and attention from a man like him who could provide nothing more than shallow looks into their bedroom mirror while standing naked completely still while their bodies were pressed tightly against each other's sweaty skin, who could do nothing but stare at his own reflection in those moments of intimacy when all that mattered was making love to his partner instead of being afraid of losing control over himself because he couldn't accept himself for being different than other men who seemed to know how to please a woman without any help whatsoever! No wonder she felt so lonely without him! No wonder she still felt so insecure! Nobody else could ever measure up to him!

As the therapist listened to the woman's emotional outpour, he couldn't help but feel a deep sadness for her. It was clear that her ex-boyfriend had left a lasting scar on her psyche. He had broken her down, shattered her self-esteem, and now she found herself drowning in a sea of insecurities. The therapist knew that healing would not come easy for her, but he also sensed a glimmer of hope within her.

"Your ex-boyfriend sounds like a very troubled individual," the therapist said, choosing his words carefully. "It seems like he had some personal issues that he projected onto you. You must remember that his actions are not a reflection of your worth, but rather a reflection of his own struggles."

The woman nodded, wiping away tears from her eyes. "I've tried telling myself that, but it's still hard to believe."

"I understand," the therapist replied empathetically. "Healing takes time, and it's a process that requires patience and self-compassion. But you are stronger than you realize, and I have full faith that you will find your way back to a place of self-love."

As the sessions progressed, the woman began to open up about her past experiences, her dreams, and her fears. The therapist listened intently, providing guidance and support along the way. Together, they explored the roots of her insecurities, unearthing childhood wounds that had long been buried. Through their discussions, the woman began to develop a deeper understanding of herself and the negative patterns that had plagued her relationships.

One day, towards the end of a session, the therapist leaned forward and looked directly into her eyes. "I think it's time for you to reclaim your power, to rediscover the strong, beautiful woman within you. You deserve to be loved unconditionally, and it starts with loving yourself."

The woman stared at him, her eyes gleaming with a mixture of fear and hope. "But how do I do that? How do I learn to love myself after everything that has happened?"

The therapist smiled warmly, reaching out to hold her hand. "It won't be easy, but it's possible. We'll work together to build your self-worth and reshape your perspective. You are not defined by your past or your ex-boyfriend's actions. You are defined by the resilience and strength that lies within you."

Over time, the woman began to take small steps towards self-acceptance. She found solace in journaling, using her words to express her emotions and desires. She surrounded herself with positive influences, seeking out supportive friends and engaging in activities that brought her joy. The therapy sessions became a safe space where she could not only explore her past but also envision a future free of the shackles of her ex-boyfriend's cruelty.

Months passed, and the woman's transformation became increasingly evident. She radiated confidence, her smile lighting up every room she entered. And one day, as she walked down the street, a familiar face caught her attention. It was her ex-boyfriend, standing there with a sheepish expression on his face.

Without hesitation, she approached him, her voice strong and steady. "I used to believe that your opinion of me mattered, that I needed your validation to feel worthy. But I've realized something, something that has changed everything. I don't need your approval because I am enough."

Her ex-boyfriend stared at her in disbelief, his eyes filled with regret. He looked nothing like the man she once loved but rather a hollow shell of his former self. For the first time, she saw him as he truly was - a reflection of his own insecurities and shortcomings.

Turning away from him, she walked tall and proud, leaving him behind in the shadows of their shared history. She had finally broken free from the chains that bound her, and in doing so, she had found a newfound love and respect for herself.

And as she ventured forward into the unknown, she carried the therapist's words with her, a reminder that true healing and self-love were journeys that required courage, forgiveness, and an unwavering belief in oneself.
