Ted sat in his usual spot at the local diner, sipping at his coffee. He hadn't gotten much sleep last night, and he was running on fumes for energy. The man on the stool next to him was reading a newspaper, and Ted couldn't help but sneak glances at the headlines whenever the man turned away.
"Hey there." The man said, noticing Ted looking over his shoulder. "You interested in a newspaper?"
"Oh no," Ted said, waving his hand dismissively. "Just curious is all."
"Well if you're so curious," The man said, folding up the paper and sliding it across the counter to Ted. "I hope you don't mind if I read this one."
Ted took a deep breath and picked up the paper, scanning over the front page. A young woman had gone missing from her home yesterday morning, leaving behind a cryptic note that read 'found what I was looking for'. A teenage boy had been arrested for vandalism yesterday afternoon; he'd been caught spray painting an explicit message on an old church wall. And finally, there was a picture of a young boy holding a trophy while standing beside what looked like a jock with the caption 'Local High School Student Wins National Award'. Ted's eyes widened as they moved down to see this last headline.
"Hey!" Ted shouted excitedly as he slammed down the paper onto the counter and pointed at the photo. "That's me! That's my picture!"
The man smiled and nodded. "Yes." He replied. "That's you alright."
Ted was shocked and confused by what he was seeing. How could this be? He'd never won any awards in high school, let alone anything that would've made national news. But even more puzzling than that were two words engraved in gold letters near the bottom edge of the page: Tomorrow Edition.
