"You know what, Hayley? I really don't enjoy that music."

"What?" asked Hayley. "You don't like the '80s?"

"No, it's not that. It's just... why do we have to listen to this?" Amos lamented, shaking his head in disapproval. "This is a waste of time."

Hayley looked at Amos with a puzzled look on her face. "It's our wedding anniversary! What did you expect us to do?"

"I don't know," said Amos. "Just... something else."

"Well, sweetie, this was the only thing I could find online that wasn't blocked by the internet police."

Amos looked at the screen on the table in front of them and scowled. "Why are they blocking stuff like this? This is garbage!" he exclaimed angrily as he pointed at the screen. "I mean... Look at this guy! He looks like a fool!"

Hayley sighed heavily and stared at Amo sadly. She tried her best not to show her frustration. They had been together for fifteen years, but her husband was still the same man she met in high school: naive, ignorant and extremely stubborn. He never stopped complaining about the government, even though he voted for it every election day since he turned eighteen years old. Every time he complained about their policies, Hayley would always ask him why he didn't move abroad if he hated it so much here, but he didn't understand why she even asked him that question since there was no place in the world where life was better than it was here in Grovovo.

Amos looked at his wife with a concerned look on his face and smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, hon," said Amos as he got up from his seat and walked over to where Hayley was sitting. He then wrapped his arms around her shoulder and kissed her softly on her forehead before pulling away. "I'm just stressed out right now."

Hayley nodded silently and sniffed back tears. She knew how hard it was for Amos to get accustomed to Grovovo after moving here from America when they were first married sixteen years ago; especially because Grovovo was nothing like what he grew up with in California or even what he experienced during his mandatory military service in Kenya during his early twenties. But despite all that, Amos had never once complained about living in Grovovo; not until recently anyway when things started changing for the worse here in their country.

Amos sat back down next to his wife and put his hand on top of hers as they both watched the cheesy movie on their tablet screen happily playing by itself without any sound coming from its speakers. They sat like that for several minutes without saying a word until suddenly something caught Hayley's attention outside their window overlooking the stunning ocean behind their home which had been specially built for them by the government after they got married sixteen years ago as a special gift from President Hosea himself, who had been a good friend to both of them ever since their college days back in California when they were studying their respective fields of medicine and psychology together nearly two decades ago before they decided to marry each other after they graduated from college and moved back home to Kenya where they lived happily ever after.

That happiness, however, was impacted by political turmoil in recent times. The unexpected death of President Hosea led to an emergency election in Grovovo, which resulted in the rise of Zola Ambudu as the new president. This shift in power brought tension and uncertainty, affecting the lives of Amos, Hayley, and their friends.

Hayley found solace in her friends and family, such as the Moorheads and the Ndongas. Despite the chaos around them, they continued to spend time together, enjoying dinner parties and gatherings. They were determined to carry on with their lives amidst the political turbulence.

As they sat together, watching the silent movie and enjoying the peaceful view from their home, Amos and Hayley tried to put the challenges of their changing world aside and focus on the love that had kept them strong through all the years. No matter what lay ahead for Grovovo, their bond would remain steadfast.
