Mapagal watched with bated breath as her team shoved the creaky wooden door open and made the mistake that countless foolish adventurers before had made in thinking that the fog-filled room illuminated by soft blue glows was empty. In an instant, metallic shafts protuded from the air, striking fear into the hearts of her hardened treasure hunters. Mapagal spun onto her feet, cladding her hands with energy ready to fire as she sized up their enemies. Five humanoid creatures—all wearing royal-looking armor and channeling blue energy—stared resolutely back at her team. Mapagal let out a sigh of relief as the 5-foot aliens allowed the humans to explain themselves, but the real shock came when she heard the aliens speak for the first time. An alien with a tall headdress and multicolored cape held up its hand in front of its chest “I represent the rulers of this galaxy, and you have come here seeking something which we deem most sacred. You come seeking the ancient artifact, the Dragon Orb, which is said to possess immense power." Mapagal's heart raced. It must have been true- they were on the cusp of a legend. The alien continued his speech. "You have invaded our realms thinking that you could take away that which we guard, and so you must pay the price. If you dare brave our challenges and prove yourselves worthy, you shall go away with the orb and the power it holds," The alien finished, seeming to enjoy Mapagal’s team's dumbstruck expressions. Mapagal knew they had no choice but to accept the alien's challenge. With slight glimmer of excitement, she nodded in agreement and stepped forward. "We'll do it," she declared. The alien nodded and the air shifted around them. "Come," he commanded. As the team stepped forward, the alien gave each of them a bracelet, making it clear that no matter what happened, they were not allowed to use their own powers against the challenges they were about to face. Mapagal knew that everything was riding on the success of their mission. This was the end of the beginning.

The walls around them seemed to close in as a looming sense of dread filled the entire group. Each bracelet the aliens had given them began to light up, indicating the start of the challenge. First up was an assault on all five of the member's courage, as they were required to work together and brave their way through a nest of terrifying, creatures and sinister traps. This was a gruesome and scarily fast-paced test of their character - and they failed. Mapagal’s heart raced as the room cracked and morphed into a deep blue sea, pitting the group against a Kraken and a Myrth. They readied their weapons and dove with speed in search for the powerful orb. As time slowly passed, the waters began to move slowly, and one of their members, Ian, broke into snarky sarcasm towards their opponents, “What do we got folks? A giant squid with a bad attitude?”. At this, Mapagal snapped back, “Enough of your stupidity Ian, and focus on the task at hand”. With no room for jokes, their plan came together and the group managed to navigate towards the orb - glowing merrily on the bedrock. With a swift move, Ian plucked the orb up nearly touching it, invoking a wrerking energy to pour into the team and slowly sapping them of whatever courage they had left. They had survived the second stage of the contest and Mapagal let out a breath of relief. They could not afford to fail anymore.

Danger was lurking in every corner as the final test of the competition was presented. The team was expected to traverse a twisting and confusing corridor — blind. Although their internal compasses could guide them, a few traps had been hidden by the ruling friends, making their task all the more troubling. To defeat them, all the members were stripped of their already failing sight and placed in a pitch-black room upon entering the seemingly daunting labyrinth, The team felt intimidated at first and began to falter, until miraculously, Ian’s snarky sense of humor kept them going. Hilarious quips were constantly shared within—giving the group strength and courage. Despite the stressful situation, moments of delight were shared through their apparent approach of a hopeless situation. It felt like the walls were getting closer and the air was getting harder to breathe, yet they all persevered, laughing and relying on their past experiences to cheat their way through the darkness. At long last, the shadow echoed its way off the wall and revealed an exit. Fortunately, the team had passed the final stage and the rulers of the galaxy emerged from the darkness, this time with solemnity.

Realising their victory was near, Mapagal’s team prepared for their final challenge. The ruler of the galaxy swirled their hands, around and across the orb and a giant door opened, signalling the entrance of one last test. In front of them, the team stared into an intense ball-like structure embedded in the wall, pulsing and glowing with a powerful energy. The room was huge and empty, but they knew they were not alone. From the darkness, a voice began to speak to them. “It was you who sought the power and now it is here.” With a cackle and a puff of smoke, a figure appeared. His face was orange and wrinkled, and from his hands, he brandished what could only be described as a “power conductor”. “Your journey is now coming to an end and the time has come for you to retrieve the power of the Dragon Orb!” The weathered man explained. “You think that by stealing away with an artifact so powerful, you can challenge a thousand years of the gods and the unspoken laws? I cannot allow it” At that instant, the familiar tension and dread seeped through the air again but this time it did not come from the man holding the power conductor. Suddenly, pointing his free hand towards the heavens, a bright yellow ray shot out, swirling around the group, seemingly against a force of its own. Mapagal already knew what she had to do- every ounce of courage and skill that she possessed would be required to clinch victory and seize the orb with their own hands. The team stared tensely as the man attempted to use his power conductor to control the orb and make it move, only to be met with failure. In the frenzy-filled battle that followed the surge of the yellowness, all five members served as protectors, thrusting their protective energy at Mapagal as she fought with snark and surprising power for the sake of her team. Eventually, she had cornered the man and wrested the orb from his use, successfully crushing his ambition. The awe-filled crowd cheered at their victory, granting them the victory and the Dragon Orb. But, true victory was not theirs quite yet, and the team was forced to fight their way back to safety despite having their Great Dragon Orb in hand. Armed with the orb and their wit, Mapagal and her team raced through the challenges and challenges of the land, slaying beasts and crossing great chasms and storms until, eventually, they crossed the skies and touched down on their home planet, richer than they ever imagined.
