“Sven, I don’t wanna go!”

“Come on, Ida! We have to do this!” he pleaded.

Ida groaned loudly and slid down the back of our rickety wooden chair. “But why? What is this gonna get us?” She took a bite out of her hot dog.

I looked at her with a resolute gaze. “We need to find out what happened to the witch in the woods.” He waved his hands in the air as he spoke, gesturing wildly with his face twisted up in excitement.

Ida shot him an irritated look. “You never believed that silly story! You were just playing around like you always do!” She frowned at me and crossed her arms, glaring at me from across the table.

I laughed nervously. “Yeah, but now it’s more than just fun and games, Ida… we need answers!” I leaned forward and squinted my eyes at her, whispering harshly, “That witch that lives in the woods has been taking kids from our village for years! And now all of the kids have been gone for so long that no one even remembers them anymore! We need to know what happened to them all! We can stop this if we figure it out before she takes us too!” I licked my lips anxiously and leaned back into my chair again, staring at Ida intently with a deep frown on my face.

Ida slowly picked up another hotdog and put it down again, not eating it. She was quiet for several minutes while she stared off into space with a dazed look on her face. She finally turned to me again and said quietly, “When did they all disappear?”

I smiled slyly, “About two weeks ago… right after you disappeared…” I smirked evilly as I watched Ida jump in shock and stare wide-eyed at me.

She scowled at me angrily and stood up abruptly from her chair as she yelled angrily, “That was you?! Why did you bring me back?! Now I have to go find my friends who are stuck in the witch’s house waiting to be eaten by that ugly old hag!!! Ughhhh!!! This is your fault!!! You better not tell anyone else that I was kidnapped because she likes little girls more than boys! Or else!! UGHHHH!!!!” She stormed away quickly with tears in her eyes as she ran out of the restaurant lobby towards the street where our bikes were parked outside.
