The Goblin King's Redemption: A Tale of Unity and Freedom in Abington

"What are you looking at, boy?" The knight growls as he glares at me.

His eyes flash dangerously, like the fires of hell. I take a step back, but not out of fear. He seems to enjoy my fear and the fear of others. His armor shines in the light of the sun and his weapon is so sharp I can see my reflection in it. He's like a god among men, almost a god himself.

I don't dare look at him directly. Instead, I look down and see that I am standing on top of the cage where their king is kept. This cage is larger than most cages you would find. It is large enough to fit a small house inside of it, but it houses only one man. A man who does not look so different from me or any other being in this world for that matter. He doesn't look like an animal like they say he is.

He has two arms with hands that are just as humanlike as mine are. His legs are covered by his clothing, but they are just as humanlike as the rest of him too. His face is no different either; there is nothing eerie about him at all! How could they call him an animal if he looks just like us? They're liars!

I am in awe of this man while at the same time I am disgusted by him because he allowed himself to be captured by these knights without a fight. Despite how much he doesn't want to be here, he hasn't tried anything to escape from this cage or from their grasp on his neck. He doesn't even try to struggle against their hold on his neck; instead he willingly lets them do whatever they want with him! Even now, he sits against the back wall of his cage with his knees drawn up to his chest and his head resting on his knees in defeat and shame.

"You will never get away with what you did," The knight says with disgust laced into every word as if he was disgusted by something else entirely aside from me and the goblin inside of his cage. "You will never make something like this happen again."

The knight walks over to the cage and pulls out a dagger from its sheath on his belt before sticking it through one of the bars into the goblins side causing him to wince in pain and cry out in agony again before using that opportunity to further humiliate the poor creature by spitting into its face after wiping off some blood from its dagger onto its sleeve first.

I feel myself getting angry because of what they have done to this innocent creature who has done nothing wrong except for existing! They have called themselves knights when they are nothing more than cowards who hide behind suits of armor and weapons while they sent other people out to do their dirty work for them! Why don't they get down here themselves and fight? Why don't they go up against our king head-on?

"Leave us!" A strong voice demands which causes me to turn around to see another knight walk towards us flanked by six other knights wearing full suits of silver armor that shine brightly in the sun with weapons made out of silver so pure that their edges were sharper than any knife I've ever seen before! Their leader stomps towards me with great speed until he was mere inches away from my face causing me to crouch down in fear as I saw him raise his arm and slap me hard across my cheek causing tears to form in my eyes as I fell down onto my butt before staring up at him in shock as he kneels down beside me so that we're facing each other at eye level before patting my head causing me to wince in pain because of how hard he hit me before saying, "Don't worry...he won't hurt you."

"How do you know?" I ask angrily as I wipe away my tears before pushing away from him causing him to look surprised by my sudden show or defiance before smiling softly at me making me blush slightly before answering my question by saying, "Because I'm going to kill him."

The words hang in the air, heavy with the weight of the knight's intentions. I stare up at him in disbelief, my heart pounding in my chest. How could he say such a thing so casually, as if taking a life meant nothing? My gaze flits back to the goblin, who looks up at me with wide, fearful eyes. I see a glimmer of hope in those depths, a plea for someone to save him from this impending doom.

A surge of bravery courses through my veins, replacing the fear that had once paralyzed me. I stand tall, defiance filling my voice as I speak, "You won't lay a finger on him. I won't allow it."

The knight's smile falters for a moment, his eyes narrowing as he studies me. "You're just a naive child. This is not your fight."

But I feel a sense of duty rising within me, ignited by the injustice I witness before me. "Maybe I am young, but I won't stand by and watch innocent beings suffer. I will do everything in my power to protect him."

The knight chuckles darkly, the sound sending shivers down my spine. "You underestimate the power of my knights, boy. It would be wise to remember your place."

Determination hardens my gaze as I meet his challenge head-on. "I may be outnumbered, but I won't give up. And I won't let you harm him."

A flicker of respect flashes across the knight's eyes, the hint of a smirk playing at his lips. "Very well," he says, rising to his feet. "You want to protect this creature so badly? Then come with me."

Confusion swirls within me as the knight extends a gloved hand towards me. "Come and bear witness to the true extent of his evil."

Reluctantly, I take his hand, allowing him to hoist me to my feet. The other knights follow suit, forming a silent procession as we make our way through the castle's intricate corridors. The air grows heavier with each step, anticipation mingling with the faint scent of musty stone. We descend into the depths of the fortress, where the secrets of the kingdom lie hidden.

Finally, we reach a set of massive iron doors, adorned with ancient symbols that whisper of forgotten magic. The knight pushes them open, revealing a chamber draped in darkness. As torchlight flickers to life, the room is bathed in an eerie glow, illuminating an altar at its center. Upon the altar lies a relic of unimaginable power - a glowing crystal pulsating with celestial light.

"It is this crystal that our king seeks," the knight explains, his voice reverent. "He has sent countless knights, warriors, and scholars in search of it. And yet, all of them have failed, falling victim to the crystal's overwhelming force."

Confusion clouds my expression as I stare at the crystal, its ethereal beauty captivating my gaze. "But why? What is so special about this crystal?"

The knight's gaze becomes distant, as if he is recalling a memory best left forgotten. "Legend has it that this crystal holds the power to control the elements - fire, water, earth, and air. It is said to grant immeasurable strength to those who wield it. And our king, consumed by his insatiable lust for power, will stop at nothing to possess it."

Understanding dawns on me, fueling the fire within my heart. "The goblin... he possesses the crystal, doesn't he?"

A grim nod is the only confirmation I need. "Yes. And he must be stopped before our king unleashes its true potential."

The weight of the situation bears down on me, the responsibility weighing heavy on my young shoulders. But I refuse to falter. I will save the goblin, protect him from harm, and ensure that the crystal never falls into the hands of the king.

As the knights prepare to move forward, I take a step back, my mind racing with a plan. "Wait," I interject, my voice steady despite the tremor in my bones. "I have a plan. But we must work together."

The knight regards me with newfound respect, his eyes glittering with anticipation. "Tell us, boy. What is your plan?"

And so, with the odds stacked against us, we forge an unlikely alliance - a young boy and a group of knights, united by a common cause. The fate of the goblin and the entire kingdom hangs in the balance as we step into the uncharted darkness, ready to face the unknown. Together, we will defy the king, uncover the truth, and rewrite the destiny that threatens to consume us all.
