The man woke up slowly.

He was lying on a soft, squishy surface. It felt like he was resting on clouds. He tried to open his eyes but noticed that his eyelids were swollen. He reached for them and found them to be overly puffy. His whole face felt that way. There was a tingling feeling from his chin down to his neck and the whole left side of his body.

He sat up, taking in his surroundings. He was in a cave but not one he had ever seen before. The cave was huge and almost entirely empty except for a few large boulders here and there. The ceiling was so high that it wasn't visible at all and the only light came from an opening barely big enough for him to squeeze through. In the distance, he could see sunlight streaming down into the cave and he headed towards it as fast as he could manage with his throbbing head and his stiff joints.

As soon as he got out of the cave, he turned back to look at it again. It seemed to disappear into infinity; it must have been hundreds of feet tall! He would have never guessed those stones would be able to hold such an immense weight up there.

"Incredible!" the man said out loud as a flock of birds took off from the trees behind him, startled by his voice.

It looked like he was in some sort of forest but it was unlike any forest he had ever seen before. The trees were much larger than any tree should be and their branches were covered in moss and other strange looking growths that made them look like dragons or serpents slumbering away on top of the mountain peaks they were perched upon. Some of these trees had roots that were almost as big as the trees themselves and they were intertwined together so tightly that they formed living bridges between two mountainsides, making it possible to walk between them while remaining underneath the thick canopy of leaves above him that filtered most of the light coming down from above, creating a dark green cocoon around him as he walked along between all these giant ancient trees, some of which looked thousand years old or more.

As he walked deeper into this enchanted forest, enjoying the feeling of being surrounded by all these ancient giants, he got thirsty after walking for some time so he decided to find a stream or something nearby where he could sit down and drink some water while relaxing in this beautiful place until nightfall when he planned on continuing his journey onwards towards the city where his love lived, wondering if she might still be waiting for him there after all this time since they last saw each other...
