Tom & Alvin's Moon Quest!
·
Published 6/9/2023In 19th century, an adventurous Tom and his mischievous robotic pet mouse, Alvin, embark on a daring quest to The Moon to save their beloved town by obtaining a mysterious lunar artifact, facing an array of Macabre-tinged challenges on their hilarious and emotionally intense journey.

A few minutes ago, Tom had just been picking flowers in the meadow. He was on his way back to town carrying his basket full of daisies when he saw something move in the bushes beside the path. It's probably nothing, he thought to himself, but you never know.
He slowly walked toward the bushes and put on his best scowl. "Who's in there? Show yourself!" He said loudly with as much bravado as he could muster up. His heart was racing as he stood there waiting for a response. There was no response at first, so Tom repeated himself louder and more sternly this time.
"I SAID SHOW YOURSELF NOW!" He shouted stomping his foot to accentuate the urgency of the situation.
"Weellllllll don't have to get so excited about it." A very small voice came from the bushes. "I'm here now, what do you want?"
"Oh, it's just a mouse," Tom said softly to himself as he kicked himself for being so jumpy, "A talking mouse." His eyes widened slightly as he took another look over at where the voice had come from. Sure enough there was a little mouse who looked like it had just rolled in a pile of leaves sitting there looking up at him with a big smile on its face. "What are you doing out here all by yourself?" He asked after a moment of silence.
"Just taking a stroll through the countryside is all,"The mouse replied with a shrug of its little shoulders, "Thought I'd check things out since I've never been outside of town before, ya know?" The little mouse tilted its head curiously and cocked one ear at Tom who was still staring at it blankly. "You alright? You look kinda funny." It said, cocking it's other ear at Tom now.
Tom snapped out of his stupor and realized that he had been staring at the mouse for several moments now with a confused expression on his face that must look pretty silly to someone who couldn't see it anyway. He cleared his throat awkwardly and tried to play off what had just happened by pretending that it hadn't even happened at all. Lifting up his basket of flowers he smiled politely and said "How do you do? My name is Thomas Arthur Haskins and these are for my mother who is housebound due to an injury she suffered earlier today." He handed the flowers over to the mouse who took them gently in its hands and sniffed them with obvious delight making soft approving noises at their fragrance as if it were actually capable of smelling them through its whiskers.
Tom stared down curiously at the little creature who continued to smell the flowers for several moments before finally handing them back across to Tom and saying "My name is Alvin Olvera Mendoza-Cooper." He held out one furry paw that looked like it might have been more appropriate for gripping a pencil than shaking an actual hand but Tom gripped it lightly nonetheless making an attempt to shake it like a human would shake another human's hand if they ever met one which seemed unlikely since he didn't really know any humans outside of town besides his mother but once again that wasn't important right now because suddenly they both heard voices coming toward them down the road shouting angrily with each other in loud voices as they approached closer and closer by the second getting louder and louder until-
"Get him! Get that filthy thief!" A man screamed loudly from somewhere down at the bottom of the hill where they were standing causing Alvin to growl angrily and jump directly into action running straight down hill toward the spot where he seemed to think whoever was shouting was coming from while Tom ran after him trying desperately not to trip over himself or roll down the hill itself while simultaneously shouting "Wait! Wait! WAIT!" After Alvin who either wasn't listening or just didn't care because he kept going without even looking back at Tom who suddenly felt himself tripping over something roughly spherical that looked like an orange but also seemed squishy which launched him forward face first into some sort of metal contraption that smacked him directly in his chin with such force that he felt certain that teeth were now floating around inside his mouth but then everything went black so whatever had happened now wasn't his problem anymore because now he was dead which meant Alvin had failed him which meant they would both die after all because how else would they get back home or save his mother or defeat whatever enemy had threatened their quaint little 19th century town?
