From outside he heard Dr Briefs calling out to him, but it sounded very far away, as if muffled or distorted. His vision started going dark around the edges and he felt himself drifting towards unconsciousness when someone grabbed him under both arms and lifted him up gently out of the chamber before setting him on a steel table nearby where Dr Briefs was already examining him with a diagnostic device that emitted a series of lights and emitted a soft humming sound.
